Job Description

Background:
Founded in 1901, Ontario Soccer is currently comprised of more than 500 Clubs servicing over 24,000 teams
with 380,000 registered players, 70,000 coaches and managers, and 6,000 match officials, as well as
countless volunteers, parents and supporters encompassing a direct, multi-cultural community of over
1,000,000 Ontarians.

Ontario Soccer develops and delivers exceptional and sustainable programs and services throughout Ontario
with the mission of providing leadership and support for the advancement of soccer in collaboration and
cooperation with our member District Associations, partners and other stakeholders. Ontario Soccer also
operates the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL); the province’s premier standards-based youth
development program, as well as “Team Ontario”, Ontario Soccer’s provincial Xcel program. Ontario Soccer
proudly supports Canada Soccer’s National Teams, the Canadian Premier League and Toronto FC.

The overall objective of Ontario Soccer as a hub for Coach, Match Official and Player Development is to be
innovators and leaders in sport and to assist with the equitable development of soccer as a healthy lifestyle
choice, provide a talented pathway for participants to excel and encourage inclusive community involvement
at all levels.

The Zanchin Automotive Soccer Centre features a 130,000 square-foot field house which includes a full-sized
indoor turf field which can also be divided into three small field for single field rentals. The Zanchin Automotive
Soccer Centre also boasts an Outdoor Stadium Turf Field that can accommodate up to 1,200 spectators. In
addition to its sports field, the Zanchin Automotive Soccer Centre houses several tenants, including the
administrative offices for Ontario Soccer, Return to Play Sports Centre, Ontario Women’s Soccer League
(OWSL), Ontario Soccer League (OSL), and the Provincial Indoor Soccer League (PISL).

 

Position Summary:
The successful candidate’s primary mandate is to assist Ontario Soccer’s Facility Operations Department,
with a key focus on Facilities Administration. A main component of the role will be to work directly with the
Manager, Facilities Administration to support the development of Walking Soccer Programming
Implementation across the Province. Additionally, the candidate will provide support to the department within
the areas of facility booking and facility operations. The candidate will also provide support with social media
tasks by creating and publishing content for the Zanchin Automotive Soccer Centre and interacting with our
social media followers. This position reports to the Manager, Facilities Administration.


Roles and Responsibilities:
• Assist with the Walking Soccer Pilot Project Programming implementation
• Assist with research and prepare reports on the game of Walking Soccer
• Assist with Facility Bookings at the Zanchin Automotive Soccer Centre
• Support Facility Operations tasks as needed
• Experience with social media platforms, including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook and
Twitter
• Assisting with the creation of content for the Zanchin Automotive Soccer Centre social media
channels
• Assisting with creation of graphics to support social content and other digital areas in general
• Strong writing, editing and research skills
• Understanding of soccer is required, while a strong knowledge of amateur, professional and
international leagues is considered a strong asset
• Monitoring social media trends
• Strong team player, with the ability to work independently
• Sport event support experience a plus
• Occasional weekend work may be required, with lieu days provided, to assist with events


Qualifications:
• Any Canada Soccer, or foreign coaching certification an asset but not required


Experience:
• An understanding of Ontario Soccer programming and broader landscape
• An understanding of the Zanchin Automotive Soccer Centre
• Experience developing and/or implementing sport programming
• Currently completing Post-Secondary education in sports administration

 

Skills and Competencies:
• Great initiative and relationship building skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Highly detail oriented with analytical strengths and effective time management skills
• A demonstrated proficiency in the use of common technology and computer platforms (i.e.
Microsoft Office Suite)
• Self-starter with the ability to work alone and as part of a team
• Must be receiving a course credit for completing the internship
