teams with 380,000 registered players, 70,000 coaches and managers, and 6,000 match officials, as

Ontario with the mission of providing leadership and support for the advancement of soccer in

stakeholders. Ontario Soccer owns and operates the Zanchin Automotive Soccer Centre in Vaughan,
Ontario as well operating the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL); the province’s premier

The overall objective of Ontario Soccer as a hub for Coach, Match Official and Player Development is
to be innovators and leaders in sport and to assist with the equitable development of soccer as a
healthy lifestyle choice, provide a talented pathway for participants to excel and encourage inclusive
community involvement at all levels.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Accounting Analyst, this internship role will assist with the full accounting cycle of
the organization to support execution of Ontario Soccer’s strategic plan. The placement will expose
enthusiastic students from accounting and finance programs to various aspects of a full accounting
cycle, best accounting practices and their applications within a not-for-profit sport organization.
Specifically, the job will focus on maintenance of vendors’ database, Accounts Payable and Accounts
Receivable functions, as well as support for month-end activities such as banks reconciliation.
Key Duties and Areas of Responsibility:
The primary responsibilities of this internship position will include:
Accounts Payable:
• To assist Accounts Payable Coordinator with maintenance vendor files
• To enter invoices and expense claims in accounting system for payments ensuring correct
approval, coding, and matching
• To reconcile vendor statements, research and ensure that each accounts payable account
represents the correct amount owed to that vendor and correct discrepancies
• To assist Accounts Payable Coordinator with preparation and processing weekly EFT
Payments
Accounts Receivable:
• To assist Accounts Receivable Coordinator with maintenance of customer files
• To issue receivable invoices in accounting system as per request from staff
• To assist Accounts Receivable Coordinator with monthly reconciliation of customer
accounts
Month-end and Administration:
• To assist Accounts Payable and Account Receivable Coordinators with monthly
reconciliation of all bank accounts
• To assist Manager, Finance as required, with the preparation of accurate and timely
month-end journal entries and reports
• Contributing administrative support as needed
• Additional duties as assigned by Ontario Soccer
Requirements:
• Must be receiving a course credit for completing the internship
• Self-motivated team player with a strong desire to learn about different aspects of the
accounting function in a complex organization
• Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
• Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and
manage competing priorities, while meeting various deadlines
• Keen attention to details, data entry speed and accuracy
• Good math and analytical skills
• Working towards a post-secondary education in finance and accounting
