OVERVIEW
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) is an MLS soccer club serving the greater Los Angeles area. LAFC is dedicated to building a world-class soccer club that represents the diversity of Los Angeles and is committed to delivering an unrivaled experience for fans. LAFC’s ownership group is comprised of local leaders and innovators of industry with intellectual capital, financial prowess, operations expertise, and success in the fields of entertainment, sports, technology, and media. LAFC is invested in the world’s game and Los Angeles, constructing, and developing the 22,000 seat BMO Stadium and a top-flight training center on the campus of Cal-State Los Angeles.
POSITION SUMMARY
LAFC Internship Program aims to provide students with the opportunity to apply university teachings to a real-world setting in the business of professional sports and live entertainment. Throughout the program, students will be given the opportunity to receive mentorship and shadow key industry leaders, but also able to ideate and execute upon their learning goals. Participants will be given a final capstone project to work on in conjunction with hands on experience during the internship. Interns will present their final capstone project to a panel at the end of the program.
Additional program details:
- 8-week summer internship program from June 17th to August 12th
- Part-time opportunity with a commitment of 30 hours/week
- Interns will be compensated at $18/hour
Candidates must meet the following requirements to participate in the program:
- Be eligible to receive college credit for the internship
- Applicants, including international students, must possess work authorization, which does not require sponsorship by the employer for a visa

- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain strict levels of confidentiality

LAFC is currently operating on a hybrid work model with a minimum of 1 – 2 in-office days per week. Please note that this may vary by role, and your scheduled in-office days are up to the discretion of your supervisor.
LEARNING GOALS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Learn the fundamentals of sports marketing and discover how sponsorships help solve key brand challenges while driving growth for companies
- Gain insight into the sponsorship sales process and develop an understanding of how LAFC uniquely positions itself as a premier marketing opportunity
- Acquire capabilities to effectively utilize key sponsorship tools that assist new business efforts, such as KORE, YouGov, Visme, SponsorUnited, Outreach, Winmo, ZoomInfo and Salesforce
- Collaborate with the business development team and apply newly acquired skills to help further the sponsorship sales process with the following initiatives:
- Identify brands that would be a viable fit as an LAFC sponsor
- Source brand contacts that are applicable decision makers of prospective LAFC sponsors
- Prepare and facilitate new business outreach alongside the LAFC business development team
- Conduct research on potential sponsors within identified industry categories
- Lead the development of innovative and impactful campaign ideas for prospective brand pitches
- Collaborate with LAFC business development team to produce compelling pitch decks that LAFC will present to prospective sponsors
- Assist in the coordination and execution of prospective and current sponsor events
- Assist in prospective & current sponsor hosting at LAFC matches
- Work cross-functionally with other departments in finding strategic opportunities for efficiencies, such as working with the Data & Analytics team to organize key sponsor data to provide pre-call information with prospective sponsors
