OVERVIEW: The W Athletics Department sponsors 17 sports and is an NCAA III member that competes in the St Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
This is a 10-month position that runs from August thru May, with the potential to be renewed for a second year.
This position includes a tuition scholarship of ten (10) credits per semester (fall and spring semesters only). Required summer coursework may be covered. A maximum of forty (40) credit hours will be included in the scholarship over the course of two (2) years.
In addition, a stipend of $4000 per semester (a maximum of $8,000 annually) will be awarded.
JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Director of Athletics, the Graduate Assistant will provide support and assistance with all aspects of the intercollegiate athletics of the program in which he/she is assigned. The Graduate Assistant will assist in overseeing all administrative matters, including, but not limited to compliance with intercollegiate governing body rules and regulations, NCAA institutional certification and academic monitoring. The Graduate Assistant will work to provide the optimum experience for The Mississippi University for Women’s student-athletes which includes, but is not limited to activities such as supervision of the athletic facilities, locker rooms, office spaces, concession stand, and the maintenance, cataloging, and security of all related equipment and supplies. The Graduate Assistant is to provide leadership in support of the program’s goals in alignment with the University’s mission, vision, and strategic plan; to abide by the rules and regulations established by the Mississippi University for Women, the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) and any other University identified governing body. The Graduate Assistant will supervise and mentor student-athletes; participates in game-day support and management of operations for any athletic team throughout the year; and participates in appropriate fundraising activities as deemed by the head coach or athletic director with an absolute commitment to the enhancement and support of fundraising efforts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree and acceptance into a Master’s program at The W required.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, internet, email, social media platforms
• Strong organizational skills, management skills, self-starter, & ability to multi-task.
• Attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Excellent written or oral communication skills
• Adherence to NCAA rules
• 1ST Aid, AED, CPR certified
• A clean driving record and a valid driver’s license required
