THE POSITION

Reporting organizationally to the Executive Director Stadium & Venue Management in Mexico and the Pitch Cluster Manager in Miami.
  • Monitoring and tracking of pitch management strategy items within the host cities pitch programs to achieve consistency and uniformity across allocated Venues. 
  • Supporting the execution of the infrastructural pitch delivery plan of allocated Venues. 
  • Liaison with allocated Stadium/Training Site Authorities pitch staff on pitch delivery matters and escalation of concerns/risks. 
  • Alignment monitoring of the FIFA Requirements in Pitch Management delivery life cycle. 
  • Maintain an understanding and support integration of the Pitch Research Programme outcomes in collaboration with the wider Pitch Management Managers. 
  • Liaise with other Functional areas to ensure successful delivery of Pitch Management operations at the allocated Venues and/or escalate operational matters that need central alignment.  
  • Support the Pitch Management Managers to develop and monitor a Project Management Plan and Pitch delivery Risk Management Plan which includes Pitch Protection, Recovery and Replacement Plans. 
  • Monitoring and tracking that pitch construction readiness is reported, and action plans are completed according to the schedule; addressing and escalating any issues thereon as required. 
  • Working in conjunction with the allocated Venue Field Managers to prepare, implement and monitor weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance schedules (as applicable to FIFA use periods) to ensure all ground staff deliver the required standard of playing surfaces daily. 
  • Oversee the regular inputting of FIFA26’s data collection program for active pitches and provide ongoing monitoring of the system for general maintenance and updates.  
  • Working with the Pitch Management Managers to deliver an Education and Training Programme designed specifically at addressing key areas of turf maintenance in line with the tournament pitch operational requirements.

The specific competencies we require for this position are:
  • Fluent in Spanish and English
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Agronomy, or minimum Level 4 Qualifications for Turf Management.   
  • A minimum 3-years’ experience of:  
  • A member of a pitch/field management grounds team at an international standard stadium or training venue, including holding a leadership role within the team for at least 1-year; or  
  • A student at a university bachelor program in pitch management with regular onsite practical delivery of sports surfaces, and multiple work placements at international standard stadium or trainings venues.   
  • Experience of working for an International Football/Soccer Events and/or Professional Football/Soccer Tournaments.  
  • Experience working in the North American Turf Industry is preferred.  
  • Have experience and be familiar with modern turf maintenance equipment for stadiums and training pitches. 
  • Have an extensive working knowledge of state of the art growing aids such as growing lights and vacuum and ventilation systems. 
  • Good theoretical understanding of Sports Turf Management, including the use of Hybrid reinforcements and Natural grass Football turf ideally in Stadium and/or Football tournament conditions.  
  • Practical competency and problem-solving skills in the setup and operation of specialist sports turf machinery and equipment, as well as experience in operating key pitch infrastructural components such as vacuum & ventilations system, irrigation pumps and pitch grow lights. 
  • Ability to foresee the need to act, to draw up a coherent and chronological plan, to establish priorities, to allocate resources, to develop a system of control, and to re-adjust and permanently improve plans.  
  • Manage the efficient use of available resources. Gather and record information to develop trend data and analyse past usage and make recommendations for improving the best use of resources. 
  • Pitch Performance and Environmental testing and evaluation methods and measurements. 
  • Pitch performance data collection software programs.
