As a Casual Academy Doctor you will be responsible for contribtuting towards the co-oridnation and co-leading for sports medicine services at the Academy. The successful applicant will be responsible for the assessment and management of injuries and illness sustained across the Academy age-groups as part of a multidisciplinary team during their hours of work. They will also have a role in contributing towards departmental continued professional development aimed at maximising player performance, enhancing recovery and retrun to play processes/protcols. 

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Be available to cover adhoc Academy fixtures on a session basis within the U18 and U21 squads as required and able. 

- Work on a sessional basis with Academy medical staff in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries sustained within the Academy.

- Contribute to and lead matchday timeline for medical staff (e.g. medication and trauma bag check, medical team meeting, designate cardiac arrest or extrication roles, moulage/run through).

 

- Keep accurate up to date medical records of all clinical encounters with injures

players, and record them on the club medical database.

- Maintain excellent communication and inter-departmental collaboration with all

other facets of the Academy to ensure that the standards expected are upheld at

all times.

 

- Participate and deliver CPD sessions within the team, contributing to the research

and development aspect of paediatric sports medicine within FFC’s elite

development programme.

- Help review and ammend emergency guidelines, EAPs and protocol for the Academy.

- Take an active contributary role in clinical governance, including cardiac screening,

concussion management, medical screening, drug management (e.g. anti-doping,

prescribing) and emergency activities (e.g. defibrillator database and green bag

equipment).

 

- To liaise with the head of department, doctors, physiotherapists, sports scientist,

nutritionist, sports therapist, psychologists and other members of the medical

team, regarding player performance, assessment and rehabilitation of injury and

return to play

 

 

SAFEGUARDING

and adults at risk who are under the Club’s care or utilising the Club’s facilities.

• To monitor repeated incidents of poor behaviour and liaise with their DSO or Head of Safeguarding.
