JOB TITLE: Performance Insights Lead– Women’s

LOCATION: Chelsea FC Training Ground, Cobham.  International and domestic travel as required.

CONTRACT: Full time, permanent Role

 

The Opportunity
This is a great opportunity for an insights expert to join a winning team and continue to contribute and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and excellence within the Performance Support department.

 

Overall responsibility

The role has the responsibility for the delivery of the performance insights strategy to our women’s first team performance support and coaching staff. Providing high level, actionable insights with a view to optimise performance, whilst contributing to the development of a world-class performance environment across the Cobham Training Ground campus. The lead of Performance Insights will work closely with players, coaches’ other performance support staff to ensure that complex data is presented in such a way that it can positively affect strategic and performance decision making.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement advanced performance analytics strategies to support the Chelsea Women's team in achieving peak performance.
  • Integrate interdisciplinary performance data from various sources to create holistic and actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with coaches, performance staff, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver tailored analytics solutions that drive performance improvements.
  • Design and oversee robust data processes, ensuring efficient data flow, integration, and data hygiene.
  • Create compelling visualisations and reports that communicate complex data in a clear, impactful manner to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Stay ahead of the curve by continuously exploring new technologies, methodologies, and trends in sports performance analytics.
  • Contribute to the club-wide data community, ensuring alignment with Chelsea FC's centralised data strategy and fostering a unified approach to data management and analytics.

 

What you will bring to the role

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Sports Science, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in sports performance analytics with a strong technical skillset.
  • Demonstrated, or potential, leadership skills within the insights or analytics space, ideally in elite team sports.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, and familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) would be desirable.
  • Expertise in data visualisation, with the ability to present complex insights in an engaging and accessible way.
  • Strong understanding of sports science principles and performance analytics, particularly within football.
  • Experience working with and contributing to a club-wide data community, with an ability to align with centralised data strategies.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Passion for women's football and a commitment to driving positive performance outcomes.
