Rate of Pay:  £11.44 per hour, up to 6 hours per week available dependent on availability, plus expenses can be claimed for any milage outside of your normal zone area,

Sheffield United Football Club are looking for two new scouts to join the team. The successful candidates should have a strong understanding of talent within their locality and an enthusiasm for scouting such potential talent.

The following opportunities are available:

  • 1 x Zone 1 (Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham) Scout Post ref: AC012025-AS1
  • 1 x Zone 2 (Doncaster, Lincoln, Worksop) Scout Post ref: AC012025-AS2

Role Responsibilities:

  • To identify players over the course of the season within the designated age groups for academy selection.
  • Develop contacts outside SUFC with goals of connecting more players to the club within Sheffield and surrounding areas.
  • To provide written documentation on potential players for the Academy Recruitment team.
  • To provide match reports on all games attended.
  • Serve as a Club ambassador within the academy system and other respective divisions.
  • Liaise with the Emerging Talent Centre Coaches and the Zone Coordinator regarding the identification of talented players.
  • To be aware of equality and diversity principles within the recruitment and selection of players.
  • Attend CPD events put on by the Academy Recruitment Department.
  • Attend Scouts meetings put on by Zone Coordinators and the Academy Recruitment Department.
  • Attend the Emerging Talent Centre or Academy games once every 3 months.
  • Any other reasonable requests as directed by management.


Club Wide Responsibilities:

  • To adhere to all Sheffield United Football Club's Safeguarding Policies and Procedures to foster an environment which protects from harm those defined as children and adults at risk.
  • To report any concerns of a Safeguarding nature to the relevant parties and remain fully compliant with any applicable Safeguarding checks and due diligence and recognise your responsibility to the Club's Safeguarding agenda.
  • To report any concerns of discrimination to the relevant parties and promote a welcoming and inclusive club environment for all.
  • To adhere to the Club's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policies, supporting the Club to create an environment which is inclusive and all-encompassing.


Essential criteria for the Role:

  • FA Talent ID Level 1 Certificate
  • FA Safeguarding Children Certificate
  • Enhanced DBS check
  • Full Driving License
  • Prior experience working with Club coaches, scouts, and officials.
  • Understanding of Academy football.
  • Knowledge of the locality you are working in.


Desirable criteria for the Role:

  • FA Talent ID Level 2 Certificate.
  • Contacts within grassroots Clubs and private academies within the area you work.
  • Understanding of the policies and procedures used in Academy Recruitment.
