Stirling Albion Football Club, affectionately known as “The Binos,” was founded in 1945 and has a rich history within Scottish football. Based in Stirling, the club has a strong connection with the local community and is committed to achieving success both on and off the pitch. The club was the first community owned club in Scotland, with the majority shareholding held by Stirling Albion Supporters Trust, a Community Benefit Society. The Board of Directors operate within the terms of the Working together Agreement, a governance document between the Club and its majority owners, the Supporters Trust, which has been in place since 2022.
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Commercial Director. This unique opportunity allows you to contribute to the growth and success of the club, becoming an integral part of its operations and future strategy as a member of the Board.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Leadership: Lead all commercial activities, including securing sponsorships, managing sponsor relationships, and exploring innovative revenue-generating opportunities
- Team Coordination: Oversee and guide a team of club volunteers involved in commercial activities
- Fundraising Management: Chair a fundraising committee, coordinating volunteers and leading the planning and execution of fundraising events
- Board Participation: Actively contribute to Board discussions and decisions, shaping the club’s strategy and ensuring effective day-to-day operations
Person Specification
- Professional Experience: Proven experience in commercial operations at a senior management or director level
- Local Knowledge: Familiarity with or connections to businesses within Stirling or Central Scotland is advantageous
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to group decision-making at a senior level
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing abilities
Role Details
- Commitment: Approximately 8 hours per week, with flexibility depending on the time of season (excluding match days).
- Compensation: This is a voluntary and unpaid position. An incentive scheme could be considered for increasing incremental income significantly. We are happy to discuss
