Job Description

Position Overview.  The Christchurch School Soccer program is looking to add a qualified, passionate, forward-thinking, community-oriented coach to help take this successful program to the next level.  The program includes a Boys Fall program, the Girls Spring program and Winter off-season training program. A passion for boarding school life and the ability to work in other areas of the school is required, we are looking for a "triple threat" - a soccer coach who would also enjoy the uniqueness of weekly dorm duty and supporting one of the other arms of the school – (teaching, admissions, student life, health services, and development).  Previous high school teaching experience is highly desired and is the most common “work in other areas” offered, but college counseling, admissions, media relations, and development experience and interest are also often available.  International travel experience and/or passion to travel is also highly desired.

As a boarding school, our students come from all over the country and world and the teams are highly diversified—boarding and day students, domestic and international.  On average, a team will have 10 different countries represented.  Spanish and/or French speaking is helpful, especially for international recruiting, educational, and marketing trips, but not required.  Numerous opportunities exist for the ideal candidate to support the existing program structure, as well as shape its direction for the future.  

In terms of soccer coaching, there are numerous opportunities for growth and experience, including but not limited to:

  • International marketing and recruiting trips/travel (Spain, Italy, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, South Africa, and more)
  • Working collaboratively with coaching team
  • Offering new ideas to existing philosophy
  • Designing practice sessions
  • Game day management
  • Assisting with lineup and tactical adjustments
  • Off-season training
  • Developing relationships with local travel teams and local community
  • College placement for our student athletes
  • Identify travel club college showcases and college ID camps for individuals or teams to enter
  • Develop strong relationships with college coaches
  • Film and highlights
  • Social media communication
  • Development and fundraising
  • Parent communication, team dinners and bonding activities—in and out of season
  • Design uniform and practice gear
  • Field and equipment management and maintenance
  • Tournament director of our winter indoor futsal tournament
  • Reestablish 8-team boys Fall soccer tournament
  • Establish a Girls soccer tournament for Spring
  • Establish a Girls indoor soccer tournament for Winter
  • Away game logistics – transportation, meals, lodging
  • Direct or Assist Summer Soccer Programming
