Job Description

Sporting Kaw Valley is a premier youth soccer club based in Lawrence, KS and has openings for competitive youth head coaches across various age groups (U10-U19). Our goal is to find coaches who fit into our values, vision and mission and will help continue to grow the club and help our players reach their full potential.

On Field Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading and planning training sessions, developing player skills, and fostering a positive learning environment
  • Work closely with individuals and groups to enhance their technical abilities, tactical understanding, physical fitness, and overall performance on the field
  • Design and implement age and skill level-appropriate training sessions tailored to the needs and goals of each player and team
  • Provide instruction on various aspects of soccer including dribbling, passing, shooting, defending, etc and game strategy
  • Conduct Individual Development Plans to evaluate player strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement
  • Offer constructive feedback and encouragement to motivate players to reach their full potential
  • Monitor player progress and adjust training plans accordingly to ensure continual development
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive environment that promotes teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship
  • Potential to assist with organizing and coordinating events such as private sessions, small group sessions, camps, and clinics
  • Represent SKV in a professional manner at all times

Off the field:

  • Communicate effectively with players, parents, and other staff members to address questions, concerns, and feedback when needed
  • Work closely with Leadership Staff
  • Take part in all Coaching Education Programs required by Director of Coaching
  • Achieve all goals assigned by Director of Coaching

Other

  • Required overnight travel to Events and Showcases
  • Non-traditional work hours, including weekends and evenings are required regularly.
  • Other duties assigned by the Director of Coaching.
  • Successful competition of a Background Check and Safe Sport Certification
  • Must have valid driver's license
  • Must be legally able to work in the United States (No Sponsorship)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must be legally able to work in the US without sponsorship. 
  • D License or higher is preferred but open to discuss.
  • Goalkeeper Training or diploma or experience preferred.
  • Proven coaching experience at the youth development level.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a growth mindset.
  • Enjoy being part of a team environment, and eager to work with others.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the youth or collegiate level
  • Playing experience.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and work alongside our other coaches

Technological Knowledge & Skills:

  • Microsoft Office/Google sheets
  • Zoom, Google Meet and other video platforms.
  • Problem solving ability.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to connect with the community and create strong relationships.
