Job Description

NJ/NY Gotham FC (“Gotham FC” or “the Club”) is a National Women’s Soccer League (“NWSL”) team representing New Jersey and New York. The team plays at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ.

The Role:
Gotham FC is seeking an Assistant General Manager position, under the supervision of the General Manager. This staff member will work closely with the General Manager and Head Coach to accomplish team, sporting, and business objectives. This position involves the ability to maintain a schedule in line with a sports team, including weekends and nights. 
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support General Manager on club matters, including team makeup, trades and draft, salary cap, and player contracts. 
  • Manage team salary cap and ensure effective management and delivery of player contractual obligations.
  • Negotiate contracts with player representation and ensure their fulfillment.
  • Take the lead in working with the Player Development Assistant Coach to document all Player Outlook Plans and IDP’s.
  • Ensure the club maintains a good standing with the league and CBA requirements, including adhering to the NWSL Operations and Competition manuals.  Be the rules expert for soccer. 
  • Be responsible for the overall financial performance of soccer operations, working across the organization. 
  • Manage and file player payroll, tracking overall expenditures with Gotham Finance department. 
  • Track the NWSL Competition Calendar and deadlines, including international and trade windows. 
  • Serve as point of contact for NWSL interaction, working with the League in soccer matters, including helping the league determine competition rules (e.g. drafts, salary cap).
 
Qualifications:
  • B.A./B.S., or equivalent work experience in a leadership role at a sports organization.
  • 5+ years’ experience working in the technical, sporting, or analytics department of a soccer Team or youth organization. Women’s soccer experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability leading a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Spanish proficiency preferred.
  • Ability to work well within a group environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and complete multiple jobs at once, particularly tasks that are time sensitive.
  • The job requires regularly lifting/pushing up to 25-40 pounds and occasionally lifting/pushing more than 50-60 pounds or exerting heavy force, in a wide disparity or environmental conditions.

  • As this is an exempt position, willingness and ability to work long hours, including weekends and evenings.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States. 

Location:
This position is fully in-person, based at Gotham FC’s soccer operations office and practice facility, located in Whippany, New Jersey. Ability to attend all home games and any mandatory events as well as away games, as necessary.  A willingness to travel for other business-related needs, as they arise. Ability to work at the team’s business operations office in Jersey City, New Jersey, as needed. Gotham FC requires its associates to live in its market, that is, within reasonable commuting distance of Gotham FC’s offices, practice facility and Red Bull Arena.

Salary range:  $110,000 - $150,000 annually
