Bundesliga International GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH and is responsible for the global marketing of the commercial rights owned by Bundesliga. Bundesliga International GmbH’s three business segments – Audiovisual Rights, Commercial Partnerships and International Marketing, Digital & Communications – all pursue the clear goal of strengthening Bundesliga’s market position on a sustained basis and of expanding all the marketing activities relating to professional football.
To continue expanding the company successfully, we are seeking for a qualified
Regional Manager Sub-Saharan Africa (m/f/d)
with the main workplace in one of Bundesliga’s key markets in the region (ideally South Africa).
Your tasks:
- Drive the visibility and popularity of the Bundesliga in Sub-Saharan Africa, focusing on key markets in line with Bundesliga International’s strategy
- Serve as the primary contact and provide comprehensive servicing for media partners in the region, including daily communication and project management
- Manage cross-functional operations for local Bundesliga initiatives, from planning to execution across content, marketing, CSR, PR and sporting development
- Build and maintain strong local relationships to identify new B2B and D2C commercial opportunities (e.g. content or brand promotion partnerships, fan engagement)
- Support strategic market development and media rights sales through rights structuring, preparation of documents, presentations, events etc.
- Act as the key local interface between all relevant stakeholders (DFL, clubs, media partners, associations, agencies, brands etc.)
Your profile:
- Bachelor’s degree or ideally Master’s degree in Sports Management, Business, Marketing or related fields
- Multiple years of experience in sports marketing, media, or business development – ideally in a similar role within the SSA sports and media industry (league, club, media company, agency or brand)
- Established track record and business network in key Bundesliga markets (with a focus on South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana) and (initial) experience in Francophone Africa
- Fluency in English; additional languages (in particular French, Portuguese and/or German) are a plus
- Ability to think strategically and creatively using sound business judgement
- Proven track record of leading and driving multiple complex projects to meet business objectives
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset with tenacity to develop ideas and deliver them in collaboration with the organisation
- Good understanding of customer management and dynamics of versatile content offerings (Free-To-Air, Social Media, Pay TV, OTT, SVOD, TVOD etc.)
