Position Overview:
Chicago Fire Football Club (Club) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Performance Dietitian/Nutritionist to join our team. The Performance Dietitian/Nutritionist plays a pivotal role in optimizing athlete performance, training adaptation, and recovery through tailored nutrition strategies. This individual will be responsible for providing and overseeing both individual and team dietary plans while actively contributing to the day-to-day operations, training sessions, and game days. This role will report directly to the Director of Performance.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide personalized guidance on daily nutrition strategies to enhance performance, health, and recovery
- Conduct and analyze tests on anthropometric data, hydration level, dietary habits, and supplementation compliance to drive continuous performance improvements and sustainability
- Design daily menus aligned with the training schedule or game demands, ensuring player’s dietary needs are met
- Translate the latest scientific research into practical sports nutrition advice tailored to elite performance athletes
- Collaborate with performance facility staff, hospitality teams, and hotels during travel including preseason arrangements
- Be present during all training sessions and games days to provide real-time nutrition support and guidance
- Maintain the highest standards of professional competency and stay updated on advancements in sports nutrition and dietetics
- Provide a proactive approach to player health and performance, with the ability to adapt strategies based on evolving demands and the latest sports science insights
- Ensure all records are up-to-date, precise, and complaint with the Club and Performance policies
- Collaborate closely with the Performance team to identify strategic opportunities where targeted nutritional interventions can enhance player performance, recovery, and overall health
- Conduct informative sessions for players and staff to promote understanding and adoption of effective nutritional strategies
- Consistently comply with all Club and League policies, maintaining a professional and ethical approach in all nutritional activities
- Embody and demonstrate the Club’s core values in every aspect of the role, fostering a positive and inclusive environment
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition or related field
- Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience in performance nutrition or dietetics at the international, professional, professional academy, or collegiate level
- Must hold an active registration as Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential and state licensure
- Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) or equivalent qualification
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work non-traditional hours, in non-traditional settings, including all home games (or other work events) that fall on nights, weekends, and/or holidays
- Strong oral and written communication skills, and experience delivering presentations to technical staff and players
Preferred Qualifications:
- Conversational Spanish language fluency preferred
- Master’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or Sports nutrition
