Contract: Full Time, 42 hours a week

Location: The Nigel Doughty Academy, Nottingham, NG2 7SR

Working Arrangements: On site

Works alongside our Chefs to manage daily menu preparation, ensuring food quality, consistency and freshness. Predominantly focusing on the breakfast & lunch service of the First Team and Academy.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Preparing, cooking and presenting high quality nutritious dishes within the given specification
  • Assisting the Head Performance Chef in creating menu items
  • Preparing Breakfast & operating the Live Cooking session
  • Preparing Carbohydrates, vegetables, vegetarian, protein (meat and fish)
  • Assisting with the management of health and safety
  • Assisting with the management of food hygiene practices
  • Managing and training any Commis Chefs
  • Monitoring portion and waste control
  • Overseeing the maintenance of kitchen and food safety standards

Skills, Experience and Knowledge:

  • City & Guilds 706/1 | 706/2 Catering or NVQ Level 2
  • Level 2 Food Safety Award
  • Minimum 4 years relevant experience
  • Awareness of manual handling techniques
  • Awareness of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) and chemical safety
  • Experience of kitchen equipment
  • Experience of dangerous equipment such as knives
  • Ability to work without close supervision
  • Good communication skills
  • Good level of numeracy
  • Enthusiasm to develop your own skills and knowledge plus those around you
  • Adaptability to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes
  • Positive and approachable manner
  • Excellent team player
  • Understandable level of English spoken and written
