Job Description

CLUB BACKGROUND

Metrostars is one of South Australia’s most successful and innovative football clubs. Coming off the back of Back-2-Back NPL Premierships the club is looking to expand and progress their Strength & Conditioning department for season 2025.

Metrostars have to date secured 1 Australian National NPL Title, 3 South Australian First Division League Championships, 11 South Australian First Division League Premierships and 6 South Australian Federation Cups.

Metrostars have also qualified for the Australia Cup in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2023.

Tasks & Responsibilities

The intern will be required to complete and undertake tasks related to Strength & Conditioning within the Metrostars Football Club

This will involve a commitment of 10-12 hours per week including 2-3 training sessions and match day coverage on rotation with other interns.

Duties include:

· Provision of S&C Support to Metrostars Soccer Club

· Communication with Coaching and Physiotherapy staff on player progress.

· Documentation of all Sports Science actions and protocols implemented.

· GPS Data Collection and analysis

· Design and delivery of S&C programs for all players.

· Warmups and field support for coaches

· Involvement in the movement screening and testing of all players.

This internship is an excellent opportunity for a Sports Science / S&C student to further their skills and experience in an elite sporting environment. The position is voluntary. Must live local!

 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Essential

Passionate about working in Sports Science and High Performance Strong personal commitment to their professional development Experience in team sports

Able to commit to supporting academy training two nights per week Ability to work well in a team environment

Demonstrate good personal organisational skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desirable

Football specific experience

Competent Sports Science Skills

Competent Coaching Skills and Gym experience

QUALIFICATIONS

2nd to 3rd Year Sports Science or Exercise Science Student / Level 1 or 2 ASCA Student

Special Requirements

Current First Aid and CPR qualifications, Working with Children Check, Valid Driver’s Licence
