POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Athletic Trainer (ATC) assists the LAFC Academy Athletic Trainer in managing the day-to-day sports medicine operations for LAFC Academy. This role will serve as the primary resource for rehabilitation for the LAFC Academy. The Assistant ATC will work in collaboration with the Academy and LAFC 2 medical and performance staff and under the direction and supervision of the LAFC Head Athletic Trainer.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Primary resource for rehabilitation both in athletic training room and on field, for LAFC Academy.
- Collaborates to manage the healthcare and safety of players including, but not limited to: first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, application of appropriate modalities, development of rehabilitation and prevention programs, as well as conducting rehabilitation, including all pertinent best practices with regards to the care of minors.
- Assists in maintaining a complete and up to date roster of player health and participation records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system provided by the League.
- Provide coverage for training sessions and matches.
- Keep athletic training room and clinic area safe, clean, and organized.
- Comply with all MLS medical policies and protocols.
- Comply with OSHA standards with regards to blood borne pathogens.
- Attend all activities/meetings/programs as required by the League.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited College or University required. Master’s degree in a health-related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years as a certified athletic trainer and/or in athletic therapy required, soccer or MLS Next experience preferred but not required.
- Must be a BOC (or CATA) Certified Athletic Trainer in good standing.
- CPR certified for Health Care Provider required.
- Must be eligible to maintain personal professional liability insurance in good standing.
- Preferred certifications: DPT, PT, DAT, CSCS, PES, LMT, and/or NREMT, Certified Performance Sport Specialist (CPSS).
- Ability to network and create relationships across all levels internally within the organization and externally.
- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and information.
- Must be able to work successfully in a fast-paced environment with frequent distractions while managing multiple tasks at once.
- Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times.
- Flexible schedule with the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Must be able to obtain or have a valid and current U.S. passport and travel with team as needed.
SALARY RANGE
At LAFC, we carefully consider a wide range of factors to determine a fair and equitable compensation package. The final offer amount will consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience and training; and other business and organizational needs. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure guidelines, the overall range for this role is $70,000 - $73,000 per year.
