POSITION SUMMARY
The Athletic Trainer manages the day-to-day sports medicine operations for LAFC Academy. In this capacity, the Athletic Trainer provides injury prevention strategies, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation for academy players’ medical problems. This role will work in collaboration with other athletic trainers and performance staff members under the direction and supervision of LAFC’s Head Athletic Trainer.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manages the healthcare and safety of players including, but not limited to, first aid and emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, application of appropriate modalities, development of rehabilitation and prevention programs, and as well as conducting rehabilitation and making medical referrals, including all pertinent best practices with regards to the care of minors.
- Supervises any full, part-time, and per-diem healthcare providers working with the Academy.
- Communicates necessary information to staff, parents, and athletes, including those pertaining to players that transition between different levels of the Club (LAFC, LAFC 2, and LAFC Academy).
- Maintain a complete and up to date roster of player health and participation records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system provided by the League.
- Coordinate appropriate coverage for all training sessions and matches, including UPSL matches.
- Order, maintain, and inventory supplies and clinical equipment.
- Keep athletic training room and clinic area safe, clean, and organized.
- Comply with all MLS medical policies and protocols.
- Comply with OSHA standards with regards to blood borne pathogens.
- Attend all activities/meetings/programs as required by the League.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited College or University required. Master’s degree in a health-related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a certified athletic trainer and/or in athletic therapy required, soccer or MLS Next experience preferred.
- Must be a BOC (or CATA) Certified Athletic Trainer in good standing.
- CPR certified for Health Care Provider required.
- Must be eligible to maintain personal professional liability insurance in good standing.
- Preferred certifications: DPT, PT, CSCS, PES, LMT, NREMT, and/or Certified Performance Sport Specialist (CPSS).
- Ability to network and create relationships across all levels internally within the organization and externally.
- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and information.
- Must be able to work successfully in a fast-paced environment with frequent distractions and interruptions while managing multiple tasks at once.
- Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times.
- Flexible schedule with the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Must be able to obtain or have a valid and current U.S. passport and travel with team as needed.
SALARY RANGE
At LAFC, we carefully consider a wide range of factors to determine a fair and equitable compensation package. The final offer amount will consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience and training; and other business and organizational needs. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure guidelines, the compensation range for this role is $70,000 - $75,000 per year.
