Part-Time Clinical Psychologist

Location: Knight Head Performance Centre
Club: Birmingham City Women Football Club
Department: Women and Girls Football
Reports to: Head of Performance
Hours: 1-2 days per week

Birmingham City Women Football Club is seeking a dedicated and qualified Part-Time Clinical Psychologist to join our team at the Knight Head Performance Centre. This vital role involves supporting both athletes and staff by assessing, diagnosing, and addressing mental health issues and emotional challenges. You will play a key role in enhancing mental well-being and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver evidence-based psychological assessments and interventions for players and staff.
  • Offer psychological insights and contribute to One Day One Conversation (ODOC) for players with psychological needs related to performance or well-being.
  • Provide reflective support to staff and address team dynamics to promote healthy functioning.
  • Deliver workshops and training on mental health to players and staff.
  • Work within professional boundaries, making referrals or seeking specialist advice when needed.
  • Participate in audits and service reviews to ensure continued development.

What we're looking for in you:

  • Qualifications:

    • Doctorate or equivalent in Clinical Psychology.
    • Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with HCPC.
    • Professional indemnity insurance.
  • Skills & Abilities:

    • Clinical assessment skills, using at least two models of therapy.
    • Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs).
    • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
    • Ethical judgement when handling sensitive information.
    • Empathy for young players, and a commitment to diversity and equality in football.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with elite athletes, particularly in women’s football.

  • Applicants must be prepared for flexible working hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel.
  • Successful candidates will be subject to DBS checks and a medical clearance process.
