Sheffield United Football Club are looking for a Senior Marketing Manager to lead the marketing, content, CRM and digital plan for Sheffield United Football Club across the men’s, women’s and academy teams as well as supporting community, fan engagement and commercial teams. As the Senior Marketing Manager you will ensure that the marketing department are working to a clear KPIs that are either directly revenue driving or that support our wider plan to grow our fanbase, community engagement and digital reach.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Work with your team to develop an annual marketing plan to support the men’s team, women’s team, fan engagement & community activity and to drive key commercial KPIs such as season ticket sales, matchday ticket sales, replica kit sales, hospitality sales, sponsorship sales, membership growth and OTT.
  • Develop effective and creative marketing and communication campaigns and operational plans that are efficiently executed, support growth and ensure optimum ROI for all marketing spend.
  • Take the lead in the delivery and budgeting for all the outputs of the marketing team. Support your team and play a hands-on role in the fast-paced environment of club football where everyone is producing high volumes of marketing work to tight deadlines working unusual hours week in, week out.
  • Developed a clear set of KPIs, and foster a positive performance culture where the team can celebrate success for achieving and beating monthly and season-long targets and goals.
  • Take the time to build positive and proactive working relationships across the club - from the ticket office to the training grounds, and from our partners and the Community Foundation. Seek opportunities to develop marketing campaigns that are innovative, creative and impactful and that push the club forward.
  • Be a champion for innovation. Have a strong handle on developments in technology, data, AI and social media and identify where we can use innovation to drive greater efficiency/effectiveness of improve engagement and growth KPIs.
  • Apply your experience in driving a data and CRM strategy across the club and have a good working knowledge of using 3rd party platforms such as Hubspot, Sports Alliance, DotDigital, Dynamics 365, Power BI, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Urban Zoo
  • Seek out and understand primary revenue drivers – both existing and new. Seek new ways to increase revenue to benefit the club – new digital sponsorship ideas and content themes, opportunities in OTT/streaming, revenue opportunities in social media and with platforms such as YouTube and Facebook.

Essential Criteria for the Role:

  • Recent experience of working in a football or transferable marketing skills learnt in a major sporting organisation or sports marketing agency.
  • Knowledge and insight into the wide scope of this role across the men's and women's game, community engagement, fan engagement and commercial is a pre-requisite.
  • Previous experience of positively leading teams and working productively with colleagues across all departments .
  • Strong digital, CRM and data experience - working previously with 3rd party CRM, Customer Experience and/or Membership Management platforms and a good working knowledge of Social Media measurement tools.

Working Hours and Locations:

Various locations: Bramall Lane Stadium will be the main location, with regular contact at the SUFC Women’s venue and Academy and First teams training facilities.

Working in football or any sport is not a regular 9-5 job. Kick-off times happen in the evenings and at weekends and you will be required to work on home matchdays throughout the season. You may also be required to visit some away games or pre-season tour matches if required. Attendance at conferences and other networking events may also be a requirement. For you and your team it is therefore really important that we all work to our days in lieu policy and it is acceptable to work up to 1 day at home each week if you need to.
