Sheffield United Football Club are looking for a Maintenance Technician! The successful candidate will have a passion for maintaining a safe and clean environment for staff, supporters and visitors alike. Experience with risk assessments and maintenance work in the stadium atmosphere are essential to be successful within this role. Acting as the first point of call for both scheduled and reactive maintenance work, the role will hold a pivotal position within the Facilities Department.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Planning and carrying out scheduled maintenance.
  • Responding to emergencies.
  • Diagnosing and keeping record of faults and repairs.
  • Repairing equipment and testing repairs.
  • Supervising contractors, engineering and technical staff.
  • Arranging specialist procurement of fixtures, fittings or components required.
  • Creating maintenance procedures.
  • To attend all matchdays where required to provide matchday maintenance cover and assist with match readiness.
  • React in a timely manner to day-to-day general maintenance requirements.
  • Playing an active part in carrying out the preventative maintenance programme for the site.
  • Monitor and maintain adequate tools and spare parts within the department.
  • Ensuring equipment is used safely, with instructions and health and safety procedures being followed at all times.
  • To be alert whilst in all locations to identify any signs of damage and/or health and safety concerns, which may create a potential danger to those on site. Any defects found will be recorded, reported to the Maintenance Manager and Safety Manager and action taken to rectify them as soon as possible, helping to ensure the safety of everyone on site.
  • Carry out all work in accordance with risk assessments put in place.
  • To carry out regular inspections of site in relation to general maintenance works, being one of the first points of contact for all maintenance enquiries.
  • Provide support to other engineering operatives within the team to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Ensure that activities meet and integrate with the business requirements for quality management, health & safety, legal stipulations and environmental policies and a general duty of care.
  • Work with the wider maintenance team and contractors to deliver the optimal programme of planned work and reactive repairs within budget and on time.

  • To ensure that all work undertaken is carried out in compliance with ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO18001 standards, as well as SKUK HSEQ regulations and procedures.
  • To be viewed as a key support to all SUFC premises to provide basic repair and maintenance.
  • To attend CPD relevant to the Maintenance Technician's duties as and when required.

Essential Criteria for the Role:

  • Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Heating and Ventilating Industrial and Commercial Installation (6188-20)
  • Or
  • Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Planned and Reactive Maintenance on Heating and Ventilating Equipment (6188-22)
  • Strong communicative skills, with the ability to liaise with the wider maintenance team.
  • Experience of writing and working in line with risk assessments.


Desirable Criteria for the Role:

  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Heating and Ventilating Industrial and Commercial Installation (6188-30)
  • Or
  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Planned and Reactive Maintenance on Heating and Ventilating Systems (6188-32)
  • Prior experience and practical training in a variety of maintenance related skills e.g. minor electrical work, decorating and manual handling.
  • To have completed COSHH certification.
  • To uphold knowledge of ISO9001, ISO14001, and ISO18001 standards.
  • To have completed an IOSH qualification.
  • Experience carrying out maintenance works within a stadium environment.
