Derby County Football Club, established in 1884, is one of the founder members of the English Football League and has a rich and varied history, including two First Division titles in 1972 and 1975 and an FA Cup success in 1946. The club are currently playing in the Sky Bet Championship, the second tier of English Football following their promotion from League One in the 2023/24 season, and is under the management of Head Coach Paul Warne. The club also boasts a successful and respected Category One Academy, a status which has been held since 2014, and a Women’s side competing in the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division. Derby County recently embarked on an exciting new era following the change in ownership to Clowes Developments (UK) Limited, in the summer of 2022. Derby County Football Club are seeking to recruit an experienced IT professional to join our IT Services department.

 

This is a hands-on role where the successful candidate will work across the Stadium and Training Centre to provide end-user support and ensure the development and continued stable operation of the Club's IT Services, including servers, computers, laptops, and network infrastructure. The candidate will also be responsible for coordinating the Help Desk and ensuring tickets and service requests are acknowledged, escalated, or resolved in a timely fashion.

 

Key Responsibilities:

·         Ensure support requests and faults from all corners of the Club are responded to, solved, or escalated while communicating to all relevant parties.

·         Setting up, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows Desktop & Server, MacOS & iOS client devices, as well as other IT services remotely or in person.

·         Assist the Senior Network Analyst with developing and maintaining the software and hardware infrastructure at the Stadium and Training Ground and ensuring all services operate to the highest standard.

·         Support the Head of IT with the deployment, maintenance and evolution of the Club’s systems and services (e.g. Microsoft 365 ecosystem Exchange, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint), ensuring the Club is up to date with the latest features.

·         Assist with the organisation and upkeep of user—and admin-level documentation for all IT equipment and services (including the Club’s Asset System).

·         Work with the Head of IT (and IT Department) to assist with coordinating core IT projects across the Club.

·         To assist with mentoring the IT Apprentice, e.g., shadow you and other members of the IT Team when responding to incidents, to give exposure to the organisational & technical skills required to resolve incidents and manage expectations.

 

Essential Personal characteristics and experience:

·         At least five years providing 2nd/3rd line IT Support via telephone, remote and ‘in person’ for a fast-paced business.

·         At least three years administering on-prem/Hybrid AD w/Office 365 Tenant and associated services (e.g. Azure/Entra, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint)

·         At least five years of experience assisting or leading in managing large complex networks and their associated core principles (e.g., firewalls, switches, LAN/vLAN), including HPE/Aruba & Cisco switches.

·         At least five years of setting up & administering multi-site enterprise-level software (e.g.) Anti-Virus, Backup & DR, MDM, Wi-Fi Mesh, VOIP, CCTV, Printers, Door Access Control, IPTV and Remote Support Tools.

·         At least three years of experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows, MacOS, and iOS devices at the per-device and enterprise levels.

·         Ability to terminate Cat5/6 cables

·         Confident, Resilient and Self Motivated

·         Ability to deliver training or information to none technical staff

·         Excellent Communication skills, both verbal and written

·         Excellent Presentation skills

·         Ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment

·         Ability to prioritise and manage own workload

·         Work using own initiative and as part of a team

 

Desirable Personal characteristics and experience:

·         At least two years providing 2nd/3rd working in a similar role in a professional sports industry.

·         At least three years of experience installing and managing on-prem Windows servers, Hyper-V (or similar Cluster solution) w/Active Directory.

·         At least two years of mentoring & developing IT Apprentices (or similar junior roles within an IT Department).

·         Ability to Fibre Splice

·         Implementing PowerShell, Batch File or PowerAutomate scripts.

 

Essential Qualifications

·         Full driving license 

 

Desirable Qualifications

·         Degree (or equivalent) IT-based qualification

 

Salary is dependent on experience.

 

The role is full-time, 35 hours per week, with core hours being Monday through Friday, 9-5. You will be required to be on-site for home matches.
