Job Description

Chicago Fire Football Club is a Major League Soccer team that was founded in 1997. Under new ownership, the Club recently returned to Chicago’s iconic Soldier Field, opened a new 50,000-square foot office in the heart of the city, and will unveil a premium state-of-the-art Performance Center in January 2025. With tremendous growth and expansion, the Club is laying the foundation for an audacious and ambitious vision that will transform the brand and the company in the coming years.

Position Overview:
Chicago Fire Football Club is looking to bring in an up-and-coming content creator for our Digital Content & Social Media and Brand Marketing teams to help build an industry leading content capability. This role will primarily be a photography role, with a focus on club and team photo coverage, while also heavily contributing to content creation, which includes mobile-first video capture. The focus will be on creating high volume, quality content to build & engage with our digital and social audiences to ensure we’re telling strong stories around our players, our brand & the impact that we have on our community.

This is a role that will work closely and have exposure to our players (including an expectation to travel on road trips with the team, for content capture and creation purposes) so it will not be a typical 9-5. There will be expectations around weekend work (for both home & away games) along with evening events.

The ideal candidate needs to blend photography, production, editing and publishing skillsets and needs to have a robust understanding of social platforms, their algorithms and how to grow and engage social audiences. Photography is a key aspect of this role and our ideal candidate will have experience with photography, know their way around a camera (including editing), and how to create distinct content that engages audiences and consistently drives the brand forward. You’ll be equally responsible for capturing photography as you will be for creating bespoke content that can live across multiple platforms.

Given the nature of the role, individuals with a strong understanding and passion for both content creation and soccer (both the sport and its role in culture) will be prioritized.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Produce high-quality visual content for the Chicago Fire’s social media channels primarily through photography and cell-phone videos.
  • Capture live game and behind-the-scenes content (primarily photographs & cell-phone content) that will build & engage our social audiences.
  • Attend all home and away matches, traveling with the team, capturing content pre-, during, and post-match that we can use across platforms.
  • Attend and shoot team and club events to ensure we’re capturing content that can help with storytelling, brand identity, and driving fan engagement.
  • Help produce content that grows our social audiences, especially on our key channels – Instagram, TikTok, and X. Both ideate and execute content ideas daily.
  • Help improve our player, brand and community storytelling through producing high-quality, thumb-stopping, social-first content.
  • Partner with the video and creative team on ensuring all content is produced efficiently and effectively, with consistency in branding across all our work.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in content creation, digital & social media, and sports.
  • Build relationships with the sporting department, including our players, to increase content access & comfort with cameras being present.
  • Handle and manage the distribution of photos to First Team and Second Team staff and players and various departments around the club.
  • Regularly review and refine content strategies based on performance metrics and feedback.
  • Seek out new tools and techniques to enhance content creation and distribution.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience with content creation, with a focus on sport and live event coverage.
  • Strong soccer fandom and understanding of the sport and the culture.
  • Must have experience with photography and know how to edit, organize, manage, and distribute content to appropriate teams.
  • Good relationship builder, across both the business & sporting sides of the organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and results to stakeholders.
  • Willingness to learn in a fast-paced, performance-driven work environment.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, in non-traditional settings, including all games (or other work events) that fall on nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Must be proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, and asset management programs.
  • Candidates who are fluent in Spanish will be preferred.
  • Applicants must provide work samples and/or a portfolio upon submission
