Position Summary
Sporting Kansas City is seeking a dedicated, hard-working, and innovative individual who is interested in an opportunity to work within the Marketing department, supporting the Marketing and Fan Development division of the Club. The Coordinator of Fan Development will assist in the preparation, planning and activation of in-market marketing initiatives and all Fan Development activations, in the Kansas City community, at Children’s Mercy Park and the Midwest Region. 

The position is to be a key contributor to the Marketing team, while ensuring all work is consistent with the Sporting KC brand purpose: “We create memories through personalized experiences with our Club.”

Essential Functions
  • Represent Sporting Kansas City at all home matches and at SKC events in the community and region, year-round.
  • Lead in the planning and execution of grassroots and fan development initiatives throughout the Kansas City area at events such as but not limited to; Season Kickoff Events, King of the Courts, Pub Partner Watch Parties, Season Ticket Member events, and other Fan Development programming events.
  • Drive the club’s fan acquisition strategy, including lead generation and data capture efforts at all Fan Development events.
  • Oversee and cultivate the Club’s Brand Ambassador Platform, including scheduling and day of event duties.
  • Oversee and schedule all Mobile Marketing Units.
  • Department’s liaison to all Youth Soccer Fan Development initiatives.
  • Support and integrate youth and educational outreach and programming for the Fan Development department.
  • Oversee matchday Fan Development platforms, such as Fan HQ, Supporter Relations, Blue the Mascot, Surprise and Delight moments as well as manage the Brand Ambassador team.
  • Support the Club’s theme night and title night planning, including oversight of all promotional giveaways.
  • Support the Match Presentation team in creating a best-in-class stadium experience inside the stadium bowl as well as our other activation spaces.
  • Support the ticketing department with all ticket packages related to the Fan Development platforms, single match ticketing initiatives and Season Ticket Member programming.
  • Contribute to oversight of the department’s project management system.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure all departmental and Club goals are being met.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Marketing.
Match Day Responsibilities
  • Full-time associates act as representatives of Sporting Kansas City at all home matches, engaging with guests and working to create Magic Moments for all fans.
  • Oversight and support of fan development activations at Children’s Mercy Park.
  • Support match presentation team with pre-game and half-time initiatives.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned, to ensure workload cov­­­­erage.

Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or Sports Management preferred.
  • One (1) - two (2) years’ experience within the fields of sports or event management.
  • Excellent organizational, written, interpersonal and verbal skills.
  • Knowledgeable, innovative, and creative as it relates to events.
  • Prior experience with event production, promotions and/or game presentation preferred.
  • Highly organized with proven time management skills and experience creating efficient systems to juggle multiple projects.
  • Interest, experience, and ability to negotiate with vendors and partners.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and handle multiple assignments.
  • Strong knowledge and passion of the Kansas City market and local community.
  • Fluency to speak, read, and write in the English language.
  • Spanish fluency preferred, but not required.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Calendar.
