Position Title:     Player Care Officer

Location:             Vancouver, BC

Terms:                  Full-time, Permanent   

Reports to:          Manager, Team Operations & Administration

 

The Northern Super League (NSL) is a new Canadian professional women’s soccer league, which currently consists of six clubs and is set to kick off in spring of 2025. In addition to Vancouver, there are clubs in Halifax, Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Ottawa.

 

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual to join the newly founded, Vancouver NSL team in the position of Player Care Officer,

 

The Player Care Officer will oversee the well-being and support services for the Vancouver NSL team players. This role requires strong organizational skills, a compassionate approach, and a deep understanding of players’ needs both on and off the field. The individual will work closely with players, coaches, medical staff, and management to ensure that all aspects of player care are managed effectively, promoting their health, performance, and overall welfare. There will be a strong focus on assisting all players with the transition into the Vancouver area and establishing their new lives within the community and club, help facilitate all dayday-to-day administration as it relates to player care, player onboarding, and family, acting as the bridge between the players and the rest of the technical and administrative staff and operations of the Vancouver NSL team.

 

Role Responsibilities:

 

·         Manage the welfare of the 1st Team players & families in terms of relocation, induction,

integration and ongoing home life requirements.

·        Be the main point of contact for families on all matchdays.

·        Be prepared to take a lead on new signings and manage their transition into the club.

·        Meet players and represent the club for medicals, providing personal and administrative

Support.

·        Lead on applications for MSP/Insurance for players/staff/dependents/spouse or child coverage

·        Lead on transferring provincial health coverage for Canadians

·        Design, develop and implement a player induction pack for newly recruited first team

staff and players.

·        Be the primary point of contact for all new professional player and first team staff

arrivals.

·        Arrange house viewings, handle lettings and agreements, house removals, and the

completion of relevant paperwork to ensure a smooth transition into accommodation

for first team players and staff.

·        Assist the media, marketing, and commercial departments with all player appearance

requests, making sure the players understand what is required of them, where they

need to be, and what they need to bring with them.

·        Support first team players and staff in sourcing vehicles, helping to arrange meetings

and collections.

·        Help with arranging language lessons for new staff and players, where required. Look to develop a program for new arrivals who are looking to augment their understanding of the English language, including the need to source translators where necessary.

·        Assisting with medical transport for appointments alongside the medical team.

·        Deal with ticket requests for players for both home and away matches, and be the point

of call on a home matchday for the friends and family of the players and staff.

·        Develop a network of contacts who can be on hand 24/7 if needed such as: estate

agents, car suppliers, food providers, and travel companies. 

·        Main point of contact for Players Association if/when it gets established

·        Support and work closely with 1st team Manager, Team Operations and Administration on all items related to but not limited to player experience and needs

·        Work with Operations and Technical department to help transition Academy players to the first team environment.

·        Help players and families when leaving the Vancouver market

 

Qualifications/Experience:

 

In addition to bringing a commitment to the Vancouver NSL team vision and values, the ideal candidate will require degrees of demonstrated experience as follows:

 

·        Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

·        4+ years of experience in player support and/or sports teams.

·        You have a deep understanding of how to service athletes and technical staff members.

·        An advanced understanding of operational efficiency, including transport and
accommodation experience.

·        Trustworthy with integrity, capable of being privy to extremely confidential information
without disclosure.

·        Experience of arranging and managing appointments.

·        Have a strong understanding of the logistics of everyday life: paying bills, arranging house viewings, sourcing electricity and gas suppliers, etc.

·        Hold a current clean driving license and have use of own vehicle.

·        Excellent organization and time management skills, verbal and written communication skills.

·        Ability to work effectively under own initiative and as a team member to anticipate and
prioritize different workloads.

·        Ability to communicate concisely, assertively and effectively with various professional
disciplines and at all levels of an organization.

·        A good listener who understands and values listening. Able to deliver clear and transparent messaging.

·        Is meticulous at record keeping and attention to detail.

·        Is structured and diligent in areas of financial control, administration, and operations.

·        Ability to adapt quickly and willingness to work flexible and unsociable hours.

·        Competent IT skills.

·        A clean and valid full BC driver’s license

 -      Salary $55,000-$60,000

Desirable:

 

·       Good knowledge of local areas in proximity to the training ground and stadium.

·       Knowledge of foreign languages, spoken and written
