Oxford United Women’s team are looking for a Safeguarding/Welfare officer to support the safety and development of it’s female players. You will be required to drive an environment that is safe and secure for players, staff and visitors.
MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
− Regularly deliver training on policies and processes which allow concerns and allegations to be raised with confidence and managed effectively.
− Ensure safeguarding policies, procedures and codes of conduct are shared, accessible, easy to follow, and support effective safe practice.
− Ensure colleagues and stakeholders understand the importance of keeping participants safe, and that safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility.
− Ensure it is normal / expected to talk about safeguarding issues and concerns
− Ensure staff are educated to spot signs of risk and engage their interest to ask deeper questions of individuals, situations, and scenarios
− Ensure that staff in contact with children & young people are trained to an acceptable level (as defined by NSPCC and / or FA).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
− Comprehensive understanding of safeguarding legislation
− Proven experience of the sports sector and volunteer culture
− Ability to gain ‘buy-in’ across the club at all levels for safeguarding policies and strategies
− Self-motivated and capable of independent and interdependent work
− Excellent communication skills with the ability to build meaningful, strong relationships with staff, players and parents/carers
− Proven experience of handling confidential data sensitively and in keeping with Data Protection Legislation.
− Must attend safeguarding professional development annually.
− Must complete the following courses;
*Welfare office workshop
*FA Safeguarding children
*Player Welfare in Open Age Football
*Safeguarding for adults
−An enhanced DBS Check will be carried out.
