About the opportunity: Strategic Performance Analysis has come to play an integral role in football; we are continuing to look at how we gain a competitive edge on and off the pitch.  

We feel that by using data and video to extract insights we can improve player performance and measure our alignment to our coaching philosophy. Because of this, we now have a unique and exciting opportunity for a Performance Analyst (Strategic Lead) to join our Men’s First Team Performance Analysis Department at Finch Farm. 

As a Performance Analyst (Strategic Lead) you will report directly into our Director of Football and provide direction and guidance on all strategic and insight-based performance analysis to Men’s First Team staff and players. 

Work closely with the Performance Insights department, you will lead on understanding correlations and trends across the playing squad, opposition, and football from a wider perspective.  

Other key responsibilities as part of this role include: 

Strategic Consideration  

  • Playing a key role in the research into and adoption of, all new technologies, ensuring the Men’s First Team Playing and Coaching group remains up to date with all current industry trends.  

  • Providing dossiers and insights across the Men’s First Team playing group to enable a comprehensive profile on each individual player; inclusive of physical, psychological, technical and tactical considerations.  

  • Researching and reporting on industry trends, within performance analysis, which allow Everton Football Club to consider potential opportunities for competitive advantage. 

Opposition Analysis 

  • Leading on provisions and profiling within opposition analysis, for all competitions at Men’s First Team level; providing reviews and reports to Men’s First Team Coaches. 

  • Creating detailed opponent dossiers utilising data, from a team and individual perspective, of opposition information; working closely with the Data Insights function of the Men’s First Team. 

  • Coding and presentation of opposition footage; with telestrated presentations to enable understanding of insights. 

Set Piece Analysis  

  • Creating Set Piece Insights for the Men’s First Team, through creation, and evolution of video content and data. 

  • Leading on set piece analysis provision, to Men’s First Team staff and players, with a view on enhancing competitive advantage within this specific area of focus. The role will utilise data analysis and video feedback techniques to provide detailed research on best practice related to set pieces.   

Who we are looking for: Essentially, we are looking for a talented and confident performance analyst who has the knowledge and skill to play an integral role in our Men’s First Team Performance Analysis Department. 

You will be confident in communicating with all stakeholders as you will be leading the development and implementation of business intelligence and analytics strategies and really proving why data is important to a football club like ours.
