Job Description

TEAM: Bristol City Womens

LINE MANAGER: Lead Physiotherapist

LOCATION: Robins High Performance Centre, BS8 3TN

We are looking for a knowledgeable, curious and collaborative individual who has experience of working within elite sport.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the multi-disciplinary team – you will operate as an expert within the field of sports rehabilitation
  • You will assist the Lead Physiotherapist in assessment, on-going treatment, and emergency first aid care for match days and training.
  • You must be comfortable working with the full spectrum of injuries you would expect in a women’s high performance environment.
  • You will be expected to aid players by providing deep tissue massage as and when required.
  • Play an active role in the delivery of recovery sessions following games.
  • Be in attendance at all training sessions and matches throughout the season and pre-season
  • Ensure adequate cover for players needing ongoing rehabilitation through the off season
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all players and provide regular reports on the status of injured players on WPS
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of high level injury prevention, injury rehabilitation and pitch side first aid /emergency care including the systems and infrastructure required to ensure that these processes are supported, documented and reviewed appropriately, in collaboration with the rest of the medical staff.
  • You must show a commitment to continuing CPD and stay updated with the latest evidence in football medicine.
  • You will be a travelling staff member so building relationships quickly with the rest of the backroom staff and playing squad is essential. Having an understanding of the demands of frequent travel and the challenges this presents will be crucial.

Person Specification

The club would welcome applications from individuals who have the following qualifications and experiences:


  • Have full membership of The Society of Sports Therapy.
  • Have appropriate medical indemnity to treat/advise FA WSL and FA WC players.
  • The Sports Therapist must have an up to date full Advanced Emergency Aid qualification; this should be the Level 5 ATMMIF.
  • Attend a yearly ATMMiF-R reaccreditation.
  • The Sports Therapist may be required to gain Level 4 ITMMiF prior to ATMMiF.
  • Be a UKAD Clean Sport Advisor


  • Postgraduate Sports Medicine qualification (PGCert, PGDip, MSc etc)
  • Pitch rehab experience
