Title: Academy Goalkeeping Coach (U9-U16)

Location: Various (Canford Magna Training Complex, Canford Park Arena, Vitality Stadium)

Contract: Full Time, 35 hours per week (Monday-Sunday)

Jordan, the club has seen significant investment committed towards sustaining Premier League status, highlighted by the construction of a state-of-the-art training facility and the arrival of promising young talent from top clubs around Europe. These developments also bring a great opportunity to further improve our women’s team and youth setup overall.

In the Academy, there is a continued focus to become a Category Two academy, and this appointment will play a key role in that. This is a really exciting time to join the Academy, as we move on to the next stage and continue to support the 1st Team.

To coach the Academy Goalkeepers (U9-U16) and support the PDP (U18 & U21) with an enthusiasm and passion towards player development and aiding in the goalkeeper’s long-term development. Co-ordinate the U9-U16 goalkeepers plan throughout the week, collaboration with coaching staff and the clear communication of plans to the MDT.



Session Delivery

·         Co-ordinate or deliver goalkeeping sessions, primarily for the U9-U16 age groups. These sessions will be in line with the Academy micro-cycles sent out on a weekly basis.

·         With support from the goalkeeper department, send out weekly goalkeeper micro cycle to communicate what the goalkeepers are working on, where they will get their goalkeeper contact time and what match minutes they will get throughout the week.

·         Communicate with coaches on a weekly basis and ensure that the goalkeepers are integrated into the training sessions, whilst also planning for their inclusion in session planning, or co-ordinating this with goalkeeping coaches delivering sessions.


Analysis of Performance

·         Ensure that a goalkeeping handover process is made, whereby performance and development of goalkeepers is regularly shared amongst coaches and goalkeeping staff.

·         Co-ordinate filming of all goalkeeper sessions in the YDP.

·         Deliver or co-ordinate delivery of regular analysis sessions in an age-appropriate manner (i.e. YDP – fortnightly, FP – periodically).



·         Attend MDMs on a weekly and termly basis, preparing notes on all goalkeepers prior to these meetings.

·         Attend goalkeeping meetings on a weekly basis.

·         Attend all meetings as required by the Academy Manager, Academy Head of Coaching and  Academy Head of Goalkeeping.

·         Complete all relevant reviews. Ensuring all learning objectives feedback should be linked to the session and matchday performance and outline performance and progress of individuals.


Generic Responsibilities

·         The candidate must have a player centred approach, willing to work above and beyond with the goal in supporting the progression of the goalkeeper programme and AFC Bournemouth academy.

·         Attend all AFCB In-service training as part of their continuous development.

·         Take on additional roles or duties if asked to do so by the Academy Manager or Academy Head of Coaching.

·         Engage in all coach development work as directed by the relevant staff, including part-taking in support sessions delivered by relevant staff.

·         As a member of staff to ensure in all matters, you follow and actively promote the club’s mental health policies and practices to ensure an open, non-judgmental and inclusive environment for everyone engaged with the club.

·         As a member of staff to ensure that you to adhere to the club’s safeguarding policies and procedures and are committed to our safeguarding values, creating a safe and positive environment for all those who interact with the club.

·         Obligation to adhere to the club’s health and safety policy and procedures.

·         As a member of staff to ensure in all matters you follow and actively promote the club’s equality policies and practices to ensure a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment for everyone engaged with the club.

·         Experience of working in an elite sporting environment to provide performance analysis support & delivery.

·         Experience using performance analysis software (SportsCode, Hudl, Wyscout, Studio, Apple & Microsoft software).
