Tampa Bay Sun FC is seeking an experienced Digital Marketing Specialist to lead our digital marketing strategies, aiming to boost brand awareness, increase fan engagement, and drive ticketing and sponsorship sales. The ideal candidate will be passionate about marketing, design, and social media; and will use these skills to drive revenue growth and foster fan affinity through creative digital campaigns. Responsibilities include capturing content at games, community events, and the training facility. Additionally, managing social media accounts, updating Club email campaigns and analyzing data across various channels to create future strategies.

  • Maneuver digital marketing campaigns through all areas of a project life cycle
  • Clearly understand and implement digital marketing campaigns
  • Launch optimized online adverts through Google Adwords, Facebook etc. to increase company and brand awareness
  • Manage SEO efforts (keyword, image optimization etc.)
  • Prepare online newsletters and promotional emails and organize their distribution through various channels
  • Provide creative ideas for content marketing 
  • Collaborate with graphic designers
  • Measure performance of digital marketing efforts using a variety of Web analytics tools (Google Analytics, WebTrends etc.) to provide to client
  • Acquire insight in online marketing trends and keep strategies up-to-date
  • Maintain partnerships with media agencies and vendors
  • Maintain the brand’s tone and voice on all social platforms. 
  • Oversee copywriting for all social platforms.
  • Lead publishing on club-managed social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn and Threads  
  • Work in collaboration with Director, Marketing & Communications to publish on YouTube, TikTok and GIPHY with tags and optimized content  
  • Build, maintain and share social media publishing calendar 
  • Manages delivery of marketing, creative, digital, brand and broadcast assets for social platforms.
  • Create content as needed in conjunction with creative services, such as memes, real-time coverage or from templates  
  • Work with other departments to build and schedule promotional and marketing calendar including but not limited to ticketing, merch and events  
  • Work in conjunction with external agency on paid social efforts 
  • Performs the role with an ‘always on’ approach to social media, constantly monitoring and engaging current content trends, best practices, influencers and celebrities. 
  • Collaborate with sponsorship and content teams to create impactful campaigns for internal stakeholders and partners  
  • Compile, analyze, and distribute analytic reports and social media data to the internal team, regularly making recommendations, updates, and improvements to the social platforms based on your findings. 
  • Identify and implement incremental fan engagement and/or monetization opportunities based on site analytics and established best practices.
  • Serve as main point of contact for USL social team, staying current on all available social opportunities and new technologies.
  • Ability to shoot and produce short video content for digital, social and editorial distribution.
  • Monitor social media conversations involving or adjacent to the Tampa Bay Sun FC, USL and soccer, building connections with fans and evaluating sentiment; respond to direct messages to social accounts  
  • Stay up to date on players’ social media and serve as a resource as needed  
  • Cover games, practices, events and day-to-day strategy on social media; nights, weekends and travel as 
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or relevant field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with digital, social media, data, copywriting, and/or strategy as a core responsibility, analytics is required.
  • Prior experience in sports, live events, and/or entertainment industry is necessary
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of key social media platforms and best practices including, but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Snapchat.
  • Knowledge of Photoshop + Premiere.
  • Prior CMS experience is a plus.
  • Experience in data-driven social listening and tracking tools such as Meta Business Suite and Twitter Analytics, Omniture, CrowdTangle, Emplifi, etc.
  • Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships with both internal and external clients.
  • An eye for content and stories, in selecting photos, identifying stories and moments, and amplifying content  
  • Proficiency in Adobe products to augment in-house content team (example projects include manipulating templates, adding branding to Instagram Stories, clipping press conference clips) 
  • Experience with social media, Google Ads (SEM), Meta Paid Social, and email campaigns
  • Excellent understanding of digital marketing concepts and best practices
  • Experience with email platforms, such as Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc
  • Working knowledge of ad serving tools (e.g., DART, Atlas)
  • Extensive knowledge of web analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics, NetInsight, WebTrends etc.)
  • Skills and experience in creative content writing
  • Analytical mindset and critical thinking
  • Knowledge of JavaScript, SQL, and HTML is a plus
  • Google Analytics certified preferred
  • Must be able to pass all background, reference and safeguarding checks.
  • Must possess strong communication skills and be able to work in a dynamic professional environment.
  • Strong teamwork and collaborative skills, in brainstorming and execution  
  • Ability to complete tasks accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner, while remaining flexible to changing and new priorities and needs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, as required.
  • Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time.
