The San Jose Earthquakes are looking for a Coordinator, Marketing to join the marketing communications team! This role will support the club’s community outreach goals, primarily assisting with grassroots and event marketing efforts. The Coordinator, Marketing will also contribute to broader marketing initiatives, including email marketing and media buying.
The ideal candidate possesses a tremendous work ethic and organization skills, a strong knowledge and love for soccer, and a desire to grow the sport in the Bay Area.
This position includes five key responsibilities: grassroots marketing, event marketing, email marketing, media buying, and game presentation:
Oversee and implement the Quakes grassroots initiatives and programs.
Manage the Quake It Up Membership Program, recruiting members, overseeing all communication with current participants, and providing marketing assets to increase the club’s presence in the community.
Manage Earthquakes soccer camps, focusing on promotional efforts.
Recruit, hire, train, and oversee the team of part-time employees that help implement our grassroots initiatives and matchday activations.
Build relationships with Bay Area stakeholders to engage influencers and generate positive collaboration.
Assist in organizing and delivering Quakes events in the community.
Assist marketing communications manager with media buying, serving as the primary contact for all ad trafficking.
Write, develop, and deploy email marketing messages, owning the Quakes Foundation, Quakes Team Store, and Earthquakes Stadium Events email series.
Assist marketing communications manager with updating the email marketing analytics database.
Perform analysis on email performance metrics.
Create and maintain a lead generation analytics database, tracking leads gathered at grassroots events and games to determine the most effective strategies to capture new leads for the club’s customer and CRM databases.
Assist with marketing activations on matchday.
Frequently move gameday equipment, such as tables and tents, weighing around 30 pounds.
Bring flair and ideas to marketing efforts, presenting new opportunities to expand the Quakes’ presence in the community.
Collaborate with team members to help the club achieve its goals.
Other duties as assigned.
DESIRED SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
2+ years of work experience in sports and/or marketing
BA/BS degree preferred
Fluency in Microsoft Office
Driven and gritty work ethic, with willingness to take on tasks no matter how small or large
Excellent organization skills
Willingness to learn with a desire to constantly grow and evolve
Knowledge of current events and happenings
Familiarity with the San Jose market and greater Bay Area
Writing skills a plus
Knowledge of Spanish preferred
Strong understanding of MLS and international soccer
Ability to work flexible hours, including -but not limited- to evenings, weekends, and holidays
Ability to lift heavy objects weighing 30 pounds
