Job Description

Hull City Football Club are looking to recruit a confident and diligent professional to join our Finance Department in the role of Financial Controller.

 

The successful candidate will support the Finance Director in a variety of key tasks for both Hull City and SMC, ensuring their duties are completed on time and to the required standard.  This is a permanent, full-time role and candidates should have previous relevant experience of a similar position. There will be opportunities for additional training and further personal development over time.

 

The role and function of the team requires strong communication and relationship building skills along with the ability to process quickly and accurately.

Hours: 37.5 per week (full time)

Location: MKM Stadium, Hull HU3 6HU

Salary/Pay: £40-£45k (dependent on experience)

Your key responsibilities

  •  Overseeing all finance and accounting operations
  • Supporting the preparation of annual budget, financial forecasts & variance analysis.
  • Supporting the management of cash flow.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and statutory law & coordinating the preparation of regulatory reports.
  • Act as audit liaison
  • Identification of any cost saving opportunities
  • Supporting month end and year end reports and processing journals (income and expense accruals, prepayment and deferred income)
  • Reconciliation of bank statements within accounting system.
  • UK VAT return and liaison with VAT agents in respect of EU VAT registrations

 

What are we looking for?

  • Part or fully CIMA/ACCA qualified (essential)
  • 5 to 7 years’ experience of relevant experience (desirable)
  • Competent in finance systems/software and proficient in Excel
  • Experience on Cost & Revenue allocation (essential)
  • Experience on General Ledger journals and Trial Balance reconciliation
  • Excellent IT skills with a strong track record of change management and process improvement
  • Good knowledge of management accounts (accruals, prepayments, etc.) (essential)
  • Proven experience with people management and managing a team. (essential)
  • Previous experience in working with Oracle (desirable)
  • Previous experience in sports industry would be nice to have.
