ABOUT THE ROLE

The Sales team at Footballco is responsible for leading the agency and brand direct business. You will target both established and emerging companies in football, building long term relationships with key brand marketing and media decision makers at these companies and ultimately unlocking new revenue for the company via branded content and media partnerships.

As a Sales Manager– with the support of the wider commercial function, you will sell digital opportunities across our premium sports portfolio, including video pre-roll, display/app placements and various content offerings. This will largely fall under our most iconic football platform: GOAL.COM, with a focus on the South African market.

You will be expected to have a strong knowledge of relevant brands’ strategies and will need to think strategically & creatively to utilise Footballco’s range of products and collaborate with the teams around you in order to generate proactive solutions across media agencies and with direct clients.

You will be provided with a clear client & agency remit as well as an annual sales target, which you will be accountable for individually, whilst contributing and playing a role in delivering against the wider objectives & commercial targets of the Africa Sales team.

You will also ensure best business practices are adopted and top-class service levels provided, whilst being able to convey and be a key advocate for Footballco’s longer term company vision externally.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Achieve quarterly revenue targets and ultimately your annual target.

  • Deliver revenue through six figure ($) media and content partnerships with media agencies, football-focused brands, and brands targeting football audiences.

  • Promote Footballco’s digital media proposition to relevant brand & agency contacts with regular calls, meetings and proactive proposals.

  • Maintain customer satisfaction through ongoing communication and effective relationship management with clients; resolve any post-sale issues.

  • Upsell and secure repeat business.

  • Generate new revenue opportunities through continuous development and maintaining a pipeline of new revenue opportunities, including media and content solutions for Footballco.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including strategy, creative, and editorial, to create tailored sales solutions for brand clients.

  • Maintain strong mid-level & senior agency as well as client direct relationships.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Proven track record of hitting and exceeding sales targets.

  • Successful track record of media & content sales or a sport sponsorship role (preferably with experience in football, specifically in Johannesburg with leading media agencies & brands).

  • A strong understanding of the media agency landscape, with previous experience of selling into an extensive network of key direct clients and agencies.

  • Experience & confidence with developing media proposals and presenting to agency & brand teams.

  • Ability to understand clients’ needs and connect these with the solutions we can provide.

  • A relentless desire to win business and ensure your accounts are covered from every angle.

  • A self starter mentality to uncover new opportunities within your agency & client patch.
