Job Description

OVERVIEW
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) is an MLS soccer club serving the greater Los Angeles area. LAFC is dedicated to building a world-class soccer club that represents the diversity of Los Angeles and is committed to delivering an unrivaled experience for fans. LAFC is invested in the world’s game and Los Angeles, constructing, and developing the 22,000 seat BMO Stadium and a top-flight training center on the campus of Cal-State Los Angeles.

POSITION SUMMARY 
LAFC Internship Program aims to provide students with the opportunity to apply university teachings to a real-world setting in the business of professional sports and live entertainment. Throughout the program, students will be given the opportunity to receive mentorship and shadow key industry leaders, but also able to ideate and execute upon their learning goals. Participants will be given a final capstone project to work on in conjunction with hands on experience during the internship. Interns will present their final capstone project to a panel at the end of the program.  
 
Additional program details: 
  • 8-week summer internship program from June 17th to August 12th  
  • Part-time opportunity with a commitment of 30 hours/week 
  • Interns will be compensated at $18/hour 
 
Candidates must meet the following requirements to participate in the program: 
  • Be eligible to receive college credit for the internship 
  • Applicants, including international students, must possess work authorization, which does not require sponsorship by the employer for a visa 
 
Knowledge and skill requirements: 
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask, organize and prioritize work 
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to maintain strict levels of confidentiality 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, be on your feet for extended periods, and work outdoors.

LAFC is currently operating on a hybrid work model with a minimum of 3 – 4 in-office days per week. Please note that this may vary by role, and your scheduled in-office days are up to the discretion of your supervisor. 
 
LEARNING GOALS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 
  • Gain a general understanding around stadium operations and its day-to-day requirements. 
  • Learn and explain what is required of back of house departments in order to execute events and how they interact and collaborate with one another. 
  • Attend and participate in event planning meetings and pre/post-event day briefings. 
  • Shadow and support with the daily operations of BMO stadium events to learn what is needed to produce a successful event and how to troubleshoot common issues that may arise. This will include setup, breakdown, and conversion for events.  
  • Research and identify potential vendors that complement BMO Stadium operations needs. 
  • Perform daily walk-through of facility to assist in the identification of opportunities for improved maintenance and set-up/teardown programs. 
  • Observe and aid in preparing BMO Stadium’s field for all ticketed and private events, including; grow light install/removal, collection of daily field metrics, and other duties as assigned. 
  • Audit and inventory miscellaneous furniture, fixtures, equipment, general maintenance supplies and other equipment as assigned. 
  • Support with data entry for BMO Stadium/LAFC Performance Center projects such as; utility tracking, cleaning supply inventory, building management system, and other record keeping as assigned.  
  • Receive and review key BMO Stadum documents such as production notes, CAD’s, and other resources as distributed.
