Job Description

Sporting Kansas City seeks a Video Production Lead to help elevate the club’s visual storytelling and content on social and digital platforms (including the MLS/Apple partnership), in our stadium, within club advertising, sponsorships, and across all Sporting Club enterprises. Reporting to the Senior Producer, Video Content, this individual will work closely with others in the Creative, Content and Brand team(s) to execute the content vision in alignment with brand strategy and marketing goals.

This individual will push creative boundaries – both for themselves and the Club – striving to help us reach our mission of being the premier sports club in the Midwest and Major League Soccer. The Video Producer & Editor will bring demonstrated professional experience in video production, including but not limited to: shooting, editing, motion graphics, equipment, lighting and production. They will be a team-player and passionate about their role and the organization. The position is to be a key contributor to the Marketing team while ensuring all work is consistent with the Sporting KC brand purpose: “We create memories through personalized experiences with our Club.”

Essential Functions
  • Create engaging video content to promote, market and cover the organization
  • Create, produce and edit videos and features for Sporting Kansas City content channels that connects with audiences both locally and globally (through the MLS/Apple partnership)
  • Produce compelling video content on tight turnarounds
  • Act as lead Producer on Studio Production shoots, executing dynamic shoots for a variety of mediums, with consistent high-quality video, audio, lighting, etc.
  • Create and edit video content across the Club for online, social media, stadium videoboard, on-demand, and advertising – work with leadership and stakeholders from every department to guide storytelling and content approaches in alignment with the Sporting creative vision
  • Create content and video concepts in accordance with our key moments, brand campaigns, and partnership obligations. Work with the Senior Producer and Production Manager to prioritize these concepts by highest impact against our club and departmental goals
  • Collaborate with associates on the Marketing Team to ensure all are working towards the same goal.
  • Work to establish best practices on effective and technical video editing techniques, as well as identify and recommend new audio/video technologies by keeping abreast of developing technology.
  • Ensure all equipment is prepared for each match and is working properly.
  • Represent Sporting Kansas City and its related affiliates in a professional manner at all times.
  • Available for away match travel (as needed)
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Matchday Responsibilities
  • Shooting, production, and editing video content
  • Travel for Sporting KC away matches as needed
  • Edit (remotely) content from Sporting KC away matches as needed and assigned

Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism, Photography, Film or other related field preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of shooting experience with professional cameras.
  • Minimum of five (5) years working in video production.
  • Strong video editing skills in multiple styles.
  • Strong background in video production, including writing, shooting and editing.
  • Studio Production environment experience (lighting, cameras, audio)
  • Proven ability with lighting and audio for interview settings (indoor and outdoor)
  • Motion graphics and graphic design experience a plus
  • Proven ability to work within brand guidelines
  • Demonstrated ability to produce broadcast-style sports and feature stories with a quick turnaround.
  • On top of emerging trends and equipment advances.
  • Strong knowledge and experience working with Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects and Photoshop.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Calendar.
  • Spanish fluency a plus, but not required
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as well as Sporting matches home and away
  • Ability to provide a link to a reel or previous work required.
