THE POSITION

These are your key tasks:
  • Acting as secretary to the Agents Chamber by handling legal disputes between member associations, clubs, players, coaches and agents within the FIFA Agents Chamber 
  • Giving written and/or oral advice on the FIFA Football Agent Regulations to players, clubs, member associations, agents, legal advisors, etc 
  • Supporting the Litigation Department when needed within the scope of appeals lodged against FIFA’s decisions before CAS 
  • Managing licensing applications through the FIFA Agent Platform (e.g. processing applications, responding to external inquiries, carrying out communications) 
  • Investigating compliance with the FIFA Football Agent Regulations and reporting findings to the relevant departments 
  • Providing comments and feedback to legal documents and general matters related to FIFA Football Agent Regulations, including draft Regulations, commentaries, explanatory notes, memos and similar 
  • Researching and analyzing the decisions on agent contractual disputes/licence applications of FIFA General Secretariat, the FIFA Football tribunal and CAS, setting up a database of relevant jurisprudence
  • Preparing all necessary documents (e.g. minutes, presentations, collecting data) regarding the Football Agent Working Group biannual meeting
  • Drafting circulars and legal and IT correspondence for FIFA member associations and external parties 
  • Mentoring other team members, advising on substantive legal matters, as well as efficient ways to allocate time and resources
  • Providing support to the Head of Department, supporting the definition and execution of the strategy of the Department

The specific competencies we require for this position are:
  • Five to seven years’ working experience as a lawyer
  • Working experience in an international sports-related environment an asset
  • College degree in law
  • Sports law specialization in football governance, dispute resolution systems and their interaction with IT
  • Advanced understanding of the international football transfer market
  • Thorough understanding of FIFA regulations and its regulatory framework
  • Hands-on experience with football transfers, alternative dispute resolution procedures in football and case management an asset
  • Autonomy and excellence, positively impacting the efficiency and quality of work, resulting in an optimal service to stakeholders
  • Strong sense of responsibility and accountability
  • Critical judgement: ability to separate essential issues from side issues
  • Fluency in English
  • Proficiency in French/Spanish/German an asset
  • Proficiency in Word/PowerPoint/Excel
  • Familiarity with Jira an asset
  • Readiness to do standby duties
