Wigan Athletic Football Club is looking to recruit a First Team Defensive Organisation Analyst to Liaise with the First Team Manager and Coaching Staff to assess the attacking and in possession performance of the forthcoming opposition in all competitions. Assist with detailed pre, live and post-match analysis for direct use by the First Team Manager and coaching staff. Be responsible for live match day analysis support and collaborating with relevant staff to continually enhance the standards of performance analysis provision throughout the football club.
The successful candidate will report directly to the First Team Manager and Sporting Director and be based predominantly at Christopher Park Training Ground.

You Will:
- Work alongside the First Team Attacking Organisation Analyst to provide detailed analysis on all 1st team and opposition analysis.
- To provide video and statistical information to all coaching staff and players as guided by the first team staff. This includes:
– Pre match opposition presentation and analysis
– Match day live coding to provide live analysis and feedback.
– Post match analysis presentation.
– Analysis of training sessions.
- Assistance in Filming Home and Away matches
- Use of Hudl Sportscode to assist in providing instant feedback in-game, at half time and full time.
- Prepare individual player profiles for the opposition team in possession, focusing on adding a more specific level to our pre-match processes through the application of video and analytics.
- Post match team analysis.
- Manage and update databases, including Hudl (video platform).
- Leading the generation and maintenance of out of possession video databases and statistical data for the team with a view to enhancing team and player development.
- Providing feedback to coaches and players around team performance and areas of development.
- Travel with the first team both home and away (staying overnight where necessary).
- Working alongside the wider analytics team to produce short, medium and long term reviews around team development and the evolution of our game model.
- Collaborating with the analytics team to automate working processes.
- Contribute to longitudinal analysis and statistical reports throughout the season.
- Carry out bespoke projects to enhance preparation for the coaching and playing staff.
The successful candidate will:
- Elite level experience of providing performance analysis support within a professional football club.
- Production of pre match opposition analysis both video and statistical.
- Experience of live match analysis.
- Experience with a variety of video capture coding, telestration and presentation software (particularly Hudl SportsCode, iCoda, Studio, Keynote).
- Post match analysis; generation of video and statistical reports.
- A sound understanding of the technical and tactical aspects of football and the ability to dissect the strengths and weaknesses of an opposition or individual player.
- An excellent understanding of performance analysis software, (Hudl SportsCode) editing and analysis techniques, and other associated 3rd party products (Microsoft Office, Keynote, Final Cut Pro, Wyscout, Instat, Scout7 isf).
- Attention to detail and the ability to communicate using a variety of presentation skills, including creation of video presentations and specified documentation etc.
