Job description

The Louth & Meath Education & Training Board (LMETB) provides a wide range of training courses for those who are entering the labour market for the first time and those who wish to upskill and/or change their career path.

The FAI-ETB Player Development course is a Local Training Initiative (LTI) developed by the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) in cooperation with the ETB which utilises the powerful attraction of football to engage unemployed people with mainstream education.

The FAI and LMETB have teamed up to deliver a Local Training Initiative targeted at aspiring young football players and are seeking to appoint a Coordinator for the programme which will be based in the Dundalk Institute of Technology.

Overall Objective:

Reporting and responsible to the FAI Project Manager, the main task of the successful candidate will be to set up, co-ordinate, continuously develop, improve and evaluate a Local Training Initiative for FAI / LMETB in the Dundalk area.

QQI Certification for this project is Sport and Recreation at Level 5.

 

Training Programme - General Overview of Responsibilities

  • To develop the LTI in consultation with the learners, LMETB, FAI, LTI staff, external tutors and other appropriate supporters, which meets the learning objectives/ participants needs
  • Identify QQI accreditation opportunities and facilitate learners in pursuing and achieving a major QQI award
  • Direct support to FAI / LTI staff in the recruitment of suitable participants for the project
  • Delivery of QQI modules to all learners on the Local Training Initiative
  • Responsible for overall management of the course tutors

Training Programme: Specific Duties

Co-ordination of a full-time LTI programme

  • Co-ordinate the promotion and recruitment of participants for the programme
  • Co-ordinate the testing, selection and registration of learners with LMETB when new project starts
  • Responsible for the welfare of and on-going support to learners to ensure they benefit from and successfully complete the programme
  • Design, deliver and evaluate modules for the LTI
  • Organise accreditation of the LTI modules
  • Delivery of training of a number of modules for QQI level 5 Major Award in Sport & Recreation studies
  • Hold regular meetings with the Assistant co-ordinator to develop on-going work plans/ schedules to ensure smooth management of the project
  • Evaluate learners progress with regular group and individual sessions
  • Develop individual learning plans with learners and facilitate progression to other forms of training, education or employment
  • Comply with all LMETB TQAS requirements
  • Liaise with and report to the FAI Project Manager on a weekly basis and more regularly if required
  • Keep and maintain project records in accordance with the requirements of FAI / LMETB / ESF / QQI
  • Monitor, record and report course participants' attendance to LMETB on a weekly basis
  • Provide individual support and evaluation to all course participants
  • Evaluate learners progress with regular group and individual sessions
  • Develop individual learning plans with learners and facilitate progression to other forms of training, education or employment
  • Comply with all LMETB TQAS requirements
  • Liaise with and report to the FAI Project Manager on a weekly basis and more regularly if required
  • Keep and maintain project records in accordance with the requirements of FAI / LMETB / ESF / QQI
  • Monitor, record and report course participants' attendance to LMETB on a weekly basis
  • Maintain all necessary financial records and provide monthly and other financial reports to LMETB and FAI
  • Support the preparation and submission of all necessary claims in line with LMETB / TQAS process
  • Submit a written report to FAI and LMETB management at the end ofthe LTI programme
  • Control and monitor all of the equipment and resources needed to deliver the LTI programme effectively
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time or as the programme evolves

Other Duties

  • To take on other tasks and duties that will further develop the aims and objectives as requested by LMETB / FAI
  • Cover for LTI assistant co-ordinator when required
  • Implement Health and Safety procedures as per current legislation

Job requirements

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience of working with economically, socially, geographically and/ or educationally disadvantaged learners
  • Have a third level academic qualification (a qualification in a Sports related area would be an advantage)
  • Have a recognised Training Qualification (min Train the trainer QQI level 6)
  • Be familiar with and have experience of the LMETB TQAS
  • Be familiar with and have experience of managing QQI accreditation
  • Have a proven track record in administration and excellent organisational skills
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven self -initiative
  • Competence in IT systems
  • A full driving license 
  • An understanding of the FAI Strategic Plans & Reviews
  • Have an understanding of the promotion of Social Inclusion through Sport
  • A knowledge of the role of the local statutory and voluntary sectors in relation to sports development
  • A strong interest in football and a nationally recognised football coaching qualification (UEFA A level or higher would be an advantage).
  • Have experience of training QQI modules at level 5
  • A knowledge of local and regional football structures
