The NWSL office is growing to meet the demands of the changing global landscape of professional women's soccer. We are looking for individuals who desire to make an impact on the future of sport in the United States. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Public Relations Coordinator will support strategic initiatives to create and maintain a positive public image for NWSL. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serves as a liaison between the organization and the public.
  • Develops and maintains a positive public image for the organization through public-facing communication.
  • Writes, reviews, and/or distributes press releases and other public-facing communication.
  • Works directly with Club PR Staff to provide League updates and handles all distribution of game-day media materials.
  • Responds to information requests from media contacts.
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with media outlets, consumers, government employees, and public interest groups.
  • Assist the Director of Communications in coordinating interviews for company's executives and management.
  • Evaluate advertising campaigns and social media campaigns to ensure consistency with the organization's public relations strategy.
  • Handles the media credential process for all League events.
  • Assist the content staff in the distribution process of league announcements and assists with social media efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or related field required.
  • 2 years of relevant experience.
  • A multi-tasker who executes without close supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Delivers high quality work and executes under pressure/deadlines.
  • Able and willing to travel when necessary.
  • Able and willing to work non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Able to work in a remote environment. 

Desired Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of public relations principles and strategies.
  • Excellent public speaking skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills with a strong knowledge of AP style guide.
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with media contacts and outlets.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Creativity and problem-solving aptitude.
