Purpose:
Established in 1986, City in the Community is the registered charity of Manchester City and exists to empower healthier lives through football. Reaching 20,000 people each season, programmes place physical and mental wellbeing at their core, whist also creating healthy futures and healthy communities.
The Communications Coordinator will work as part of the CITC Communications Team, and alongside various departments across both the Charity and the Club, to create and deliver against communications plans which elevate fundraising, partnerships, and programme recruitment messaging across various digital and stakeholder engagement platforms.
They will also act as the key contact within the department for branding and graphic design requests, working closely with the Manchester City marketing team to create assets for various communications channels.
Other responsibilities of the role include; tracking communications output and analysing success to develop reports for internal and external stakeholders, working alongside the Digital Communications Executive to help the charity’s impact stories reach more key stakeholders, and provide general support to the Communications Manager.
Accountabilities with Key Outcomes:
1. Work with relevant departments at Manchester City in order to elevate CITC stories across Fan Relationship Management, Marketing and Matchday opportunities every week.
2. Take a leading role on creating and delivering communications plans for CITC fundraising and partnership activities, as well as community programme recruitment, with support from the Communications Manager.
3. Become the go-to person in CITC for graphic design requests, working closely with the Manchester City marketing team to ensure brand quality is maintained.
4. Create impactful and meaningful opportunities for CITC to engage staff across the Club and Charity in its communications, prioritising them as a key stakeholder.
5. Work closely with CITC’s Partnerships and Fundraising team to oversee the delivery of contractual communications deliverables and take ownership of tracking output to create communications reports for internal and external stakeholders.
6. Work collaboratively with the wider CITC Communications team, offering creative ideas for projects, storytelling and marketing opportunities.
7. Work collaboratively with the wider CITC Communications team to update the charity’s website and advise on best SEO practice in order to maximise reach.
8. Provide admin support to the Communications Manager and wider team, such as tracking and reporting impact, to demonstrate progress towards organisational targets.
9. Represent CITC communications with both internal and external stakeholders, living and breathing the wider communications strategy’s messaging, aims and objectives.
10. Ensuring that CITC’s Safeguarding policy and procedures are embedded to the highest standard across the team. Work to ensure that safeguarding practices and principles are adhered to, ensuring our legal and moral obligations towards the framework.
11. Ensuring that all CITC and CFG policies and procedures are adhered to, escalating any concerns as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Essential
Degree level qualification from a course related to communications, marketing, graphic design or similar.
Good understanding of Microsoft programmes, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience in creating communication project plans.
Confident communications skills; verbal and written.
Ability to prioritise tasks and manage a deadline driven workload.
Good understanding of design tools in the Adobe Suite, such as Illustrator and InDesign.
Desirable
Understanding of City in the Community Foundation and its projects.
Interest or experience in the third sector and/or sport.
Understanding of digital analytics and reporting.
Experience in writing content for digital platforms.
Experience in CRM platforms.
