The Role
As a part of our Agile Development teams, you will work with cutting-edge technologies to build scalable, robust systems. Our technology joins the dots between all aspects of sports. From leagues taking control of their official data and video, to brands creating immersive fan experiences. Our teams are typically multi-disciplinary, combining skills from Data Science/Engineering, DevSecOps, Product and UX.
As a QA you will work closely with product development teams and stakeholders to improve the testing skills of the team, evaluate and enhance quality processes, and ensure product quality is continually improving. You will assist engineering and developer teams with test automation, playing a critical role in reviewing code, mentoring developers and engineer in best quality practises and hard and software verification.
QA role in Genius Sports is highly autonomous – you will be the one driving quality initiatives for your team. The position would suit someone who thrives in a fast moving, team-oriented environment and is passionate about working with developers to deliver high quality software for smart and demanding customers. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and highly motivated, possess a strong command of spoken and written English.
Main responsibilities & duties
- Propose how to improve quality processes so that waste from quality tasks is minimized
- With the help of development team QA ensures team has reports in place - what is currently tested/ monitored and provide insights on tends regularly. If there is lack of visibility, QA is accountable for bridging this gap.
- To evaluate skills of development team members and work towards improving their skills in testing practices and defect prevention.
Form requirements for testing tool selection and provide suggestions based on what’s available in the market and what other teams in the company have experience with. - Teach team to work collaboratively on testing and acceptance of tasks from quality perspective
- Ensure that quality is part of the process of product delivery all through the lifecycle
- Organizes various test experiments and creates system-wide test plans to assess the quality of fully integrated systems for their team's domain.
- Active participant in organisational QA guild and ensuring that standards around security and quality are effectively communicated and the correct tooling or procedure is put in place, and executed, to ensure the standards are adhered to
Required Skills & experience
- Experience in quality assurance in Agile or DevOps models
- Proficiency in testing methods and terminology
- Understands system architectures with their technical details, and the potential risks that come with that. Is able to spot risks about the non-functional aspect of the software.
- Proficient in making quality visible through different quality measures (from bug counts in production, to CPU usage related to load, test coverage metrics, etc.), is able to provide insights around results of these metrics.
- Understands the codebase of the product, is able to debug it.
- Able to develop simple tools that automate repetitive tasks. Participates in the development of the automation framework.
- Development skills and hardware verification
- Good communication skills and ability to coach people.
- Experience working with or leading development teams.
- Persuasiveness when advocating team ownership and culture of quality
- Able to measure the progress of the Quality Assistance model, and to provide a clear report about the current state of the team.
- Can adapt Quality Assistance practices to a changed development situation.
- Able to identify bottlenecks in quality processes and suggest ways to remove them
