Job Description

The Club is looking to recruit a full time Academy Lead Youth Development Phase (U13 to U16) coachand this role is mainly based at Boundary Park (OL1 2PA) and successful applicant will report directly to the Academy Manager and the Head of Coaching and will be responsible for the delivery of the Academy coaching programme in line with the Academy philosophy. 

Oldham Athletic Football Club play in the National League and operate within the Category 3 FA Licenced Academy programme and runs an U19/18 Youth Team in the EFL Youth Alliance League. It is a family club which works closely with the local community. We are continuously looking to build on present links and develop further opportunities to encourage individuals and groups to engage in the Club’s activities. 

We are looking for individuals who have excellent communication, interpersonal and motivational skills, as well as being a role-model to young players. They will be able to show that they are capable of creating and delivering innovative and engaging coaching sessions to challenge and develop the player in line with the Academy coaching syllabus, as well as demonstrating that they understand the needs of the modern young player in terms of their physical and psychological development. 

General Information: 

The successful candidate must have the following skills and competencies: 

  • Availability for flexible working hours (evenings and weekends) 
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels 
  • Good IT skills and knowledge of the PMA online tool 
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative 
  • Dedicated to self-improvement and personal development 
  • Willing to follow and promote the Club football philosophy. 
  • As per EPPP rules, a UEFA ‘A’’ qualification is required for this position. 
  • It will be necessary for successful applicants to hold, or gain, an FA level 2 Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAIF) qualification. 

All applicants must hold a valid driving license and currently reside within one hour travelling distance of Oldham Athletic FC 

To ensure compliance with the company’s safeguarding policy an FA DBS certificate will be a requirement for this role before starting work
