Job Description

Purpose of the Role: 

Bristol City Women are seeking an individual who will be responsible for supporting the care and welfare of footballers within the professional game academy (PGA). You will ensure that players receive high-quality education and lifestyle support that is tailored to their individual needs, alongside their football development. You will work closely with coaches, teachers, medical staff, and other professionals to ensure that players are safe, healthy, happy, and achieving success both on and off the football pitch.

 

Accountabilities/Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Ensure education provision is organised and resourced in line with the educational needs of Academy players, across age, training model and academic potential. This must ensure an individual approach where a player’s educational needs are met.
• Develop and implement individual player education plans, working closely with teachers and coaches to ensure a balance between academic and football commitments
• Be an active member of the Academy Management Team (AMT) at both an operational & strategic level, ensuring contribution across all aspects of a multidisciplinary approach.
• Work with the club's education partners to ensure that players have access to highquality education and training opportunities that are compatible with their football schedules.
• Act as a point of contact for parents and guardians, providing regular updates on player progress and addressing any concerns or questions they may have regarding education

• Foster a positive learning environment that supports player academic success, personal growth, and the development of their football skills.
• Ensure the education department, and AMT have an informed and clear view about current performance against strategic objectives.
• Be the point of contact for all governing bodies/supporting agencies for all educational matters (e.g., the English Football Association, partner colleges, schools).
• Develop and implement a comprehensive program for players in the PGA, including lifestyle, psychology, nutrition, and wellbeing.
• Provide guidance, support and resources in caeer management, supporting transitions, antidoping, and the management of support network
• Take an active role within the established safeguarding team and attend weekly meetings.

Skills & Experience

ESSENTIAL
• Relevant pastoral education experience and/or player care/performance lifestyle experience.
• FA Level 1 Introduction to First Aid in Football (IFAiF) or FA Emergency First Aid.
• FA DBS
• Experience of working within an Educational setting.
• Experienced of working within a professional sporting environment.
• Be able to work as part of a team, but also lead on own initiative.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, coaches, and teachers
• Be flexible to the dynamic nature of the Academy and have proven ability to instigate manage and oversee change management.
• Ability to form a positive and supportive relationship with elite young athletes.
• IT literate, across all required platforms.

• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required to support player academic
success and football development
• Previous experience in safeguarding with young people and care of U18 players or
similar young people.

DESIRABLE
• Previous experience of the working within Women’s Football
• Previous experience of working with elite players in an educational setting.
• Level 3 Certificate in Talented Athlete Lifestyle Support
