Commercial Assistant

Wigan Athletic Football Club are looking to recruit a Commercial Assistant to join our Commercial Team. To provide support and assistance to the commercial team with the emphasis on proactive management of Club partners, sponsors and advertisers with a focus on generating revenue through sales and client relationship management. Deliver dedicated account management to achieve effective Club partnerships. Help drive hospitality/match-day sales. Assist in driving advertising and partnership sales.
Working hours: 37.5 hours, 5 days over 7 with evening, weekend and bank-holidays required

You Will:
· Build, nurture, maintain and retain good relationships with existing partners and sponsors and develop new partnerships to increase revenue
· Create new client customer leads through effective networking and active promotion of the match day sponsorship and partnership packages available with Wigan Athletic
· Proactively assist in managing clients, including Club partners and suppliers, including the principal Club partners
· Produce proposals and sponsorship information based on client’s needs
· Ensure offers and initiatives are communicated through the appropriate channels and all information is correct at deal confirmation stage ready to handover to colleagues for implementation.
· Participate in and actively contribute to the innovation of new products and strategy.
· Build up a database of clients and relevant third parties and ensure all customer data is accurately recorded.
· Provide weekly update reports to the Commercial Executive detailing achievements against agreed sales targets.
· Represent the Club on match days and events, networking with clients and delegates to promote the packages and opportunities available.
· Contribute to a client-centric culture ensuring that the very highest of standards of service are provided at all times.
· Work in conjunction with the other members of the Commercial team to pool resources and support the effective operation of the department.
· Proactively promote all match day packages to new and existing clients.
· Manage the ground board advertising including LED boards with key partners
· Assist the Head of Commercial and Hospitality Sales Executive with match day administration and planning
· Represent the Club at local networking events to develop new relationships
· Be an ambassador for the Club at all times
· Assist in the planning and development of all new initiatives and campaigns within the Commercial team
The successful candidate will:
· Demonstratable experience of working withing a sales environment either consumer or B2B consisting of lead management and a structured sales approach along with proven success of achieving or overachieving on sales targets.
· An entrepreneurial, proactive, and tenacious approach to selling in a high paced sales environment.
· Experience of communicating easily with a wide range of audiences on a face-to-face basis as well as by post, telephone and by any other appropriate methods.
· GCSE’s or equivalent in English and Maths
· Experience of planning and co-ordinating events
· Experience of winning the confidence and trust of supporters/clients with ease
· Track record delivering a quality service to customers and continuously seeking to improve upon this to win new business and retain clients.
· Possess or have the ability to develop a thorough knowledge of the work of the group and the wider hospitality and events sector.
· Excellent written and verbal presentation.
· Excellent IT skills, particularly with databases, reporting, MS Office
· Ability to think creatively and generate new ideas in order to grow business and enhance revenue and profitability for the stadium.
· Meticulous at checking detail
· Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
· Ability to organise own workflow.
· Flexible to meet the requirements of the role and business – must be able to work evenings, weekends, bank holidays for match days.
· Ability to travel to client meetings.
