This position will coordinate the Club’s immigration processes to ensure players and staff can travel to and from games as required by law. The Paralegal will support our in-house attorneys in transactional, records retention, and all legal matters, as well as litigation and risk management matters. Responsibilities will include contract and intellectual property portfolio management, records retention enforcement, document collection, template agreement review and annual updates, file maintenance, and the preparation of reports, presentations, and training materials. The Paralegal will also facilitate many administrative tasks for the legal team as set forth by the General Counsel.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Process and file nonimmigrant and immigrant visa petitions for players and staff while staying abreast of all USCIS and MLS policies and procedures to ensure favorable application results.
  • Assists all attorneys with document collection, litigation hold process, and preparation of due-diligence materials, documents, presentations, exhibits, charts, and diagrams.
  • Assists in the preparation of corporate governance documents and materials, including minutes, resolutions, and written consents.
  • Manages contracts and contract lifecycles including template development, annual updates, platform maintenance, management and roll-out; enforcement of records retention policy, administrative support for attorney drafting, redlining and negotiating contracts; managing contract execution and filing, together with all phases of the contract management process.
  • Assists in the investigation of facts in defense of claims, including coordinating interviews and collection of documents.

  • Assists in administrative tasks including calendaring, scheduling meetings and events, managing carrier and messaging services, and drafting and proofreading communications for the legal team.

  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of professional experience as a paralegal plus 2+ years of experience successfully processing and filing immigrant and nonimmigrant visas.
  • Strong knowledge of USCIS cases and immigration law.
  • Excellent people skills including verbal and written communication, and the ability to exercise good judgment related to sensitive information and events.
  • Demonstrate initiative and ability to prioritize responsibilities and work well in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends to accommodate the teams’ schedule and events.

  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Spanish-bilingual preferred

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

The job requires regularly lifting/pushing up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting/pushing more than 20 pounds or exerting heavy force in a wide disparity or environmental conditions. The job involves standing, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing etc.
