Position Title: Memorial Hermann - Dash Assistant Athletic Trainer
Employment Status: This position will be employed by Memorial Hermann Health Organization (the club’s health provider partner), but will be working and operating onsite as the Houston Dash Assistant Athletic Trainer. All final candidates will be sent to Memorial Hermann for final review.
Position Reports to: Head Athletic Trainer and Team Physician / Chief Medical Officer in consultation with Memorial Hermann.
Position Summary: The Dash Assistant Athletic Trainer assists the Head Athletic Trainer in managing the day-to-day sports medicine operations for the Houston Dash. In this capacity, the Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide injury prevention strategies, and evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate Player’s medical problems. This position works under the direction and supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer, the Team’s Chief Medical Officer/Team Physician(s), and Memorial Hermann. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will assume the duties of the Head Athletic Trainer in the event the Head Trainer is unable to or at the discretion of the Head Athletic Trainer and/or Team’s Chief Medical Officer/Team Physician(s). This position will attend all training, scrimmages, and Home and Away matches.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Manage Houston Dash player injury status
2) Manage organization of training room daily supplies and communicate needs to the Head Athletic Trainer
3) Travel with the First Team for away travel and matches
4) Track water and sports drink products at the training center and the stadium to maintain proper inventory for ordering
5) Monitor a daily and monthly cleaning list for the athletic training room
6) Maintain proper documentation for all treatments rendered
7) Promote Houston Dash culture and core values to players and staff
8) Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in all aspects of care and prevention of injuries for all players
9) Work in conjunction and communication with the Performance Staff daily
10) Assist the Head Athletic Trainer with any daily documentation on the treatment of the players
11) Assist with transportation of players to physician appointments if necessary
12) Any other athletic training staff duties as requested by the Head Athletic Trainer
13) Maintain a positive attitude to help the players succeed in their goals
14) Maintain certifications with Texas Licensure, NATABOC, and BLS and update the Director of Sports Medicine on any changes
15) Maintain personal liability insurance
Requirements:
1) Minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of Athletic Training since passing the BOC
2) Experience in soccer preferred
3) Master’s degree or higher is preferred
4) Must be NATABOC certified and licensed in the State of Texas to practice Athletic Training
5) CPR certified in BLS
6) Knowledge of Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Word and Excel
