POSITION SUMMARY:
Houston Dynamo FC is seeking candidates for Head Athletic Trainer to oversee all care provided to the Houston Dynamo FC players. The Head Athletic Trainer should set the standard of care and professionalism and ensure the culture of the medical program extends to all medical staff. They will attend all Houston Dynamo FC training sessions, treatment sessions, matches, and events.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage Houston Dynamo FC players for evaluation, treatment and prevention of their injuries and all general health needs.
- Communicate daily with Team Physicians, General Manager, and Director of Sports Medicine on the status of all Houston Dynamo FC players.
- Communicate with opposing Head Athletic Trainer to plan proper medical coverage for each match.
- Travel with the Houston Dynamo FC on all away training or competitions.
- Monitor Houston Dynamo FC injury trends with the Director of Sports Medicine, and work with the Performance Staff to focus on injury prevention and continuous evaluation of the program effectiveness.
- Develop staff education and mentorship opportunities to continually develop clinical expertise.
- Be involved with the MLS as a leader of clinical excellence in the league.
- Embody professional excellence to lead the training room culture and function.
- Document player treatments and status daily into League EMR (ARMS)
- Communicate with worker’s compensation to make sure all players are covered properly, with assistance of the Director of Sports Medicine.
- Communicate daily with the coaching staff and medical staff on the injury status of players to help plan for training the next day.
- Communicate the match availability report with the Head Coach, Director of Sports Medicine, and Technical Director for proper notification to the league for each match per MLS deadlines.
- Perform annual reviews of the Assistant Athletic Trainer and Physical Therapist.
- Annual review and update of athletic training policies and procedures with assistance with the Director of Sports Medicine.
- Maintain a positive attitude to help the players succeed in their goals.
- Communicate supply needs to the Director of Sports Medicine.
- Monitor a daily and monthly cleaning list for the athletic training room.
- Assist with transportation of players to attend physician appointments and medical testing when possible.
- Maintain certifications with Texas Licensure, NATABOC, and BLS/CPR and update the Director of Sports Medicine on any changes.
- Maintain personal liability insurance.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 6 years of experience in the field of Athletic Training.
- Experience in MLS or National Team Soccer preferred.
- 4-year BS degrees along with a master’s degree.
- Must be NATABOC certified and licensed in the State of Texas to practice Athletic Training.
- Preferred certifications: CSCS, PES, LMT, and/or NREMT Certified Performance Sports Specialist (CPSS).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
