Position Description 

U.S. Soccer has established an ambitious program dedicated to providing more opportunities for fans to connect with and invest in our teams and sport. The goal of the program is to maximize and leverage fan support to fund important development initiatives that will forward the sport of soccer in the United States. 


This position will assist in the day-to-day operations of U.S. Soccer’s fundraising program, including prospect research, database management and logistical support for special events and programs. The Development Associate will report directly to the Grant Programs Manager. 


While the program is based in U.S. Soccer headquarters in Chicago, the Associate will be expected to work virtually until at least April 1, 2020 due to safety considerations during the current COVID-19 pandemic. His or her primary responsibilities will be to:      


Primary Responsibilities 

• Research and vet current and new prospects to support new development initiatives or participate in fundraising program 

• Support in maintaining a robust donor database (Salesforce) to track donor contributions, interests, and participation in U.S. Soccer activities

• Support in the extension, promotion and membership fulfillment of the U.S. Soccer Development Fund Circle Insider program, as well as other U.S. Soccer leadership groups

• Serve as an integral contributor to the donor stewardship process, including executing all gift acknowledgements 

• Provide best-in-class customer service support, as necessary, for U.S. Soccer donors and fans

• Provide logistical and administrative support for special events and programs including preparation and occasional on-sight support when appropriate

• Provide ad hoc front desk reception coverage support when staff returns to their office

• Assist with miscellaneous duties as assigned




Minimum Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree required

• Strong organizational skills 

• Exceptional attention to detail 

• Excellent internet research skills

• Working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs 

• Excellent written and verbal communication combined with a professional demeanor

• Takes initiative with department and organizational goals in mind

• Interest in working on a team with a collaborative team environment

• Ability to work remotely with high levels on productivity

• Interest in fundraising and development


Desired Qualifications 

• Previous fundraising experience and understanding of fundraising activities 

• Previous event support experience

• Database management and experience with Salesforce 

• Passion for soccer
