Job Description

Overview

Senior Accountant will support the preparation of the financial statements with an emphasis on player transactions, including all player related acquisition costs, expenses, and revenue.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with monthly accounting close process as it relates to player transactions, including direct and indirect player spend (e.g., compensation and related payments), player programs, related budget items, and player revenue.
  • Assist with monthly accounting settlement process as it relates to all discretionary player spend, including but not limited to Designated Players and the U22 Initiative.
  • Assist with accounting for player acquisition costs, including transfer fee and loans fees. Manage the intangible asset schedules and ensure proper accounting treatment. Additionally, support Accounts Payable with review of required documentation for player acquisition costs.
  • Assist with player revenues including transfers and loans. Track allocation of revenues between League and Club. Support Accounts Receivable with invoice and collection processes for player sales, as well as support Player Relations and MLS Clubs to collect outstanding receivables and identify incremental revenue from conditional sales and sell-on fees.
  • Assist Finance and Player Relations with management of training compensation and solidarity mechanism, including timely submissions related to FIFA TMS claims and FIFA Clearing House, review of all calculations, assessment of impact on expenses and review, and monitoring of player movement to determine revenue.
  • Support Director and Financial Analysts on projects and ad hoc analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Accounting and/or Finance preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule, in office three days a week.

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of the sport of soccer.

Total Rewards

Starting Base Salary: $65,000 – $80,000. MLS/SUM base salaries are contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
