Job Description


Our Commercial & Marketing Team are primarily responsible for generating revenue that fuels our football strategies and creating positive engagement of our football activities with stakeholders.

The League Marketing Executive will be specifically responsible for managing and implementing a marketing strategy that grows brand awareness and increases attendance figures across the League of Ireland Premier Division, First Division and Women’s National League

The successful candidate will work closely with other internal departments ensuring brand, communication and marketing are in line with marketing strategy and are linked with the League Strategy. They will report directly to the Brand Marketing Manager but will be Business Partner to the League Department

The main objectives of this role:

  • Strong external stakeholder management with League Clubs and their marketing contacts and internal stakeholders management with the League and Communication departments
  • Execute the League marketing strategy, implementation plan and campaigns on time and within Budget
  • Marketing point of contact for the 20 Clubs around the country in relation to FAI marketing project initiative(s), sharing knowledge, experience whilst supporting them to achieve their marketing strategy and to deliver this at Club level.
  • Support all Clubs in the design and delivery stages of their marketing plan that increases brand awareness and attendance at matches with a focus on greater community links. Provide guidance, advice and recommendations on current model.
  • Further develop the League brand through dedicated marketing activities and providing structure.
  • Develop metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) in order to provide regular reports to the League Director and National League Executive Committee.
  • Work with the FAI Partnerships team to ensure all Sponsors activations complement League marketing strategy, are adopted by Clubs and don’t conflict with their own initiatives

Key Responsibilities/Objectives:

  • Responsible for the delivery of the overall marketing plan for League including digital and PR.
  • Act as the main point of contact for all League club marketing personnel including organising and presenting to 3/4 League marketing meetings each season.
  • Audit current practices at Club level and advise on gaps, solutions and propose recommendation(s).
  • Responsible for ensuring all League Clubs have a marketing plan in place each year that is approved by the Association and is in line with both Strategies.
  • Increase digital activities in collaboration with the Communications Department and the Marketing Team across all major social media platforms including website management.
  • Implement marketing initiatives e.g. market research, ticket promotions and digital marketing campaigns.
  • Achieve KPIs in areas of attendance and brand at all League games.
  • Responsible for the creation and delivery of all League creative assets to clubs.
  • Responsible for ensuring all League Clubs achieve their marketing commitments, KPI’s and overall objectives.
  • Responsible for the League Clubs community programmes delivery and KPIs.



Job requirements


  • 3-5 year’s professional experience of working in a similar position in marketing preferably in a sports environment.
  • 2-3 year’s people management experience, an advantage.
  • Experience in dealing with Senior Management, Director to CEO level.
  • Proven track record of delivering high profile, innovative marketing campaigns that have delivered results and achieved business objectives.
  • Experience in Marketing/Brand/PR and promotion of events.
  • Experience with digital marketing/solid analytics and analysis.
  • Experience in developing, managing and executing integrated marketing strategies and tactical plans.
  • Experience in project management and delivery of KPIs.


  • Third Level Degree preferred in Marketing, Business, Sports Management or equivalent.
  • A recognised Project Management qualification an advantage.

  • Expert in the marketing field, innovative and solution-oriented.
  • Creative, innovative, proactive and pragmatic.
  • Competent Intermediate to Advanced Level with Microsoft Office Package in particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Experience of Social Media Tool like Business Manager, Analytics, Twitter Ads
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Strong and credible presentation skills, both in the preparation of user-friendly, convincing and contextualised presentations and in their presentation delivery.
